Description

This 1979 Spider is in excellent mechanical order with recent work performed to much of the engine.

This car has been converted to Delorto carburetors (hence the non-operational reg. status) and for that reason I am not accepting any California buyers.
This Spider spent most of it's life in New England, where I am originally from. My intent was to restore the car and then send it back to the family home, but I simply do not have the time or interest in it anymore. The interior is currently as photo'd with the single seat and black interior. It will come with both seats which may need some adjusting once you receive the car.

It will need some final cosmetic work to restore it to its full glory.

Recent Work Performed

New valve cover gasketOil and filter changed last year Valve cover glass bead blasted Exhaust manifold glass bead blasted and painted with high heat exhaust paint Air filter box cleaned and repainted with high heat black paint All new coolant/radiator hoses Coolant reservoir cleaned and flushed Radiator drained and new coolant added (No rusty coolant when old coolant drained) New Brake master cylinder and brake booster Fresh brake fluid New spark plugs New Battery Extensive brake job- Performance brake kit from Centerline: Drilled disk brakes, new brake pads, stainless steel brake lines w/ new master cylinder, booster and ATE brake fluid New Hankook tires Switched out the original rims to the Daytona style rims New heat/soundproofing installed in interior footwells New black carpet set from Vicks Auto
Work needed
Needs new seat coversHas the typical Alfa oil drip on occasion Will need a new top Needs new door panelsPassenger lap belt will have to be double checked and possibly reconfigured as one of the anchor bolts seems to be too large Dash panel has two cracks near the windshield vents and will need replacing Paint is beginning to oxidize on the hood and trunk. I have used a rubbing compound and buffer which seems to work great- but needs to be kept out of the sun or the oxidation tends to re-appear. A paint sealer may work after compounding.. not sure as I am no expert on paint New owner will have to finish installing the new carpet set as I do not have the time to finish it. I currently have a few sections installed but you may want to double check some areas as I simply installed it as pictured from Vicks Auto. The footwell/pedal box is a little cramped from the new carpet set, I may have put a section of the carpet set in that did not need to be there. I would recommend going over every section of the carpet set to double check. There is some rust on the rockers, small spots on the spare wheel well and some rust on the drivers floor pan. I have sanded what I could down to bare metal and applied a clear rust protector which is said to be effective for 1 year. The new owner may want to remove the sound proofing to finish sanding what rust is left. It looks like general surface rust in some remaining areas. The one area that I would recommend cutting out and repairing is the drain hole in the footwell which has a ring of rust that is rusted through on both sides.
I have owned this car since 2014 and it has always been reliable. The only maintenance item needed in the past 5 years has been the brake booster needing replacement. Other than that the car has run strong ever since and has never given me an issue.

The car has been very well maintained throughout its lifetime with service records going back to the 90’s. Oil changes were done regularly and it looks like the flywheel, clutch and transmission were serviced in 96’ according to the records.

I have been told by a local Alfa mechanic that the cams are performance cams but I am not sure how to verify that.

This car has been converted to Delorto carburetors (hence the non-operational reg. status) and for that reason I am not accepting any California buyers.

You are buying this car with the understanding that this car is AS IS CONDITION. I have described this car and it's issues to the best of my knowledge. Because this is a running project you are purchasing this car with its current issues as described above also knowing that there may be issues that I am not aware of or that may arise after point of sale. Buyer is responsible for any repairs, mechanical issues, or damage that may occur after point of sale.

This is a good buy for someone looking for a very well maintained-running project that is very close to being finished. Again, the engine and mechanics run strong, (I have a video of it driving that I can send) after some interior work this would be a great Sunday driver. I have a California title and non op registration along with a well organized binder of service history for the car.
