Description

Pacer, iconic AMC, with far out, original 70's interior - dizzy black and white patterned seats with deep pile micro-shag-like black floor covering, crack-free, surprisingly unfaded dash and interior, rack and pinion steering. Transmissions work well.It started the first try yesterday in freezing weather after sitting four months.New tires. This is an earlier production model made with the strengthened body for greater safety, integrated roll bar seen in the roof contour, steel reinforced door panels, etc. It has not been driven significantly since the 1990's so the odometer could well be showing original miles. The floors are hole free and there is little visible rust. The frame is sound and it tracks straight. The brakes work but the front left brake shoes and/or cylinder needs replacing. The carburetor has a vacuum leak because it idles a bit fast. The glass of the drivers door is partly loose from the regulator control. The regulator itself (the part that raises and lowers the window) works. The gas lift support arms on the hatch need replacing. There are no other mechanical problems I'm aware of.
The Pacer's width is equal to a full-sized domestic vehicle from the time. This feature was promoted by AMC as "the first wide small car." The Pacer was also the first modern, U.S. design using the cab forward concept. The body surface is 37 percent glass. The May 1976 issue of Car and Driver dubbed it "The Flying Fishbowl." The Pacer was AMC's answer to the writing on the wall from the 1973 OPEC embargo when Detroit was still rolling out boat-sized gas guzzlers.Dent free body, the brakes pull to one side. The title is missing but I will provide a written guarantee of no liens or claims.I will also work with the buyer to obtain title if desired.
I will sell it this week. Please send me offers if you are interested. Thanks for your interest, Mark
