Description

Taking a step inside, a recently reupholstered color and material correct interior greets the occupants. Both bench seats are covered in the correct Leeds grain leather, in white surrounding red color combination. A rare factory option on the front bench seat is the addition of six-way power seats, which are fully operational. To compliment the seats, newer color correct red carpet has been installed. Both the seats and carpet are in excellent condition and show only very minor signs of use. The dashboard is original to the car and still houses the original gauges and radio, all of which are in good overall condition. Still retaining the original steering wheel and the optional E-Z Eye Glass, this Cadillac has always been kept as original as possible over the years. Auto-dimming bright headlights are perceived as a newer technology today, but that is not the case; the E-Z Eye Glass or commonly known as the “wondering eye” performed the exact same function, in 1959! All of the chrome trim pieces and accessories are in very good condition, with only a few minor pieces showing some age.
Mechanically this Cadillac is a true runner, being able to cruise most anywhere in comfort and style. Powered by a 390 cid V8 that makes 325 hp, there is more than enough power to push this full sized Cadillac down the road without any hesitation. The engine bay has remained as original as possible, other than a newer battery, the engine is nearly factory stock. Even the rare and fragile glass mason jar windshield wiper fluid bottle is in place and functioning, allowing the dual-speed wipers to perform their function more efficiently. Mated to the big V8 is a hydra-matic 3-speed automatic transmission, which handles the power in an effortless manner with no problems matching modern highway speeds. In order to produce Cadillac’s trademark supreme ride quality, independent front coil-spring suspension and a live rear axle with leaf springs make up the suspension. Tipping the scale at nearly 2 ½ tons, adequate stopping power is performed by hydraulically boosted oversized front and rear drum brakes. Wheel covers carry a turbine wheel motif, and there are even vestigial ventral fins at the lower edge of each rear side, passing through the fender skirts to merge into the massive rear bumper. Finally all four 5” whitewall tires tie the red and white motif together very well and are rare to find in this size and condition.
