Description

This is a great example of what many consider to be the best year of the famous Chrysler 300 Letter Car series that began in 1955. Designed by the famous Virgil Exner, this is one of 964 300F hard tops built in 1960. Standard equipment includes power steering and brakes, electroluminescent lighted Astradome dash cluster with console mounted tachometer and beige leather interior with full length console and swivel bucket seats. Options include power windows and seats, Golden Touch radio with rear speaker and rear window defogger.
Mechanical: Factory stock P41 Long Ram dual quad engine with recent valve job. Correct Carter 2705S 4 barrel carbs were rebuilt and tuned on the car by Jeff Carter of JC Auto in Mountlake Terrace, WA. He is one of the most knowledgeable Mopar restorer's on the planet and a great source for parts and advice. It has been driven only about 24 miles since the carbs were done. New fuel lines from the pump and new inline fuel filter. New correct spark plug wires from Lectric Limited. New Goers reproduction plug wire supports. Rebuilt correct Autolite Tach Drive dual point distributor with NOS vintage Ampco points, rotor, condenser and vacuum advance. Rebuilt original Autolite generator and starter. NOS Autolite voltage regulator. NOS starter switch and ballast resistor. Rebuilt power steering pump with new reproduction hoses. New correct appearance reproduction gel cell battery from Restoration Battery. New battery cables from the 300 Club. New reproduction battery hold down assembly. New reproduction heater and radiator hoses with correct clamps. New Gates belts. Factory correct part number 1903356 radiator was professionally cleaned and pressure tested. Heater core was flushed and pressure tested. New fan clutch from the 300 Club store. New hood pads. Engine compartment detailed with correct colors and decals. Almost all bolts, nuts, clips, etc. are original Mopar parts.
Rebuilt Power Brake Booster by Booster Dewey. New vacuum hoses with a NOS check valve. New reproduction master cylinder. Factory 12 inch drum brake system is completely rebuilt with NOS front wheel cylinders and linings. Rear wheels have NOS shoes and reproduction wheel cylinders. New wheel bearings. New rubber flex hoses. All drums were turned. Backing plates, springs, hardware and drums were cosmetically restored. Stock pressure operated brake light switch has been replaced with a newer style under dash switch for reliability.
Pushbutton operated 3 speed Torqueflite automatic transmission with new coolant lines. Standard 3.31 differential.
New reproduction wide white sidewall tires + a matching new spare. New front and rear shocks. New mufflers in the correct size. New sway bar and strut rod bushings. Restored original fuel tank with new sending unit. The gauge works fine and I have always filled the tank with non-ethanol premium gas.
Exterior: Always a west coast car. Sold new by J. E. French Co. in Oakland, California. It was already being displayed at the Fifth Annual WPC Meet in Portland, Oregon on August 2, 1974 and a Champoeg Park, Oregon classic car picnic on August 18,1974 with a dash plaques to prove it. No patch panels in the body or floor. Painted with a single stage urethane enamel for a correct 60's appearance. Original color was white. Nearly all brightwork was replated or polished, including bumpers, grille surround and side emblem housings. New reproduction rear license plate trim. NOS front grille bar. New reproduction tail light lenses with re-chromed tail light and back up light housings. New reproduction emblems, weather stripping and rubber bumpers throughout. Polished original wiper arms with new blades. Restored original factory wheel covers with new reproduction cast aluminum 'gears' and reproduction 300 center emblems. All glass is original Solex tinted glass. There are a few small scratches on the passenger side window and a very small one on the windshield, which is the style with heavier tint band across the top.
Interior: New stock Goers reproduction beige leather interior, including seats, door panels, rear package shelf and brushed aluminum front and rear door panel inserts. New R D Autoline dash pad from Sweden fits and looks perfect. New highest quality carpet from ACC. New recast steering wheel sourced from Michael Burke of the 300 Club. The original is also included but has a few small cracks. Polished original threshold moldings. Original electroluminescent power unit restored by JC Auto. Restored 2 speed rear window defogger. Restored signal seeking 'Golden Touch' 7 button radio with floor mounted second 'dimmer switch' station selector and rear speaker with fader switch. This radio was optional but not original to this car. It was repaired by JC Auto and works great. The original 5 button Golden Tone radio is also included. Remote control driver's side mirror. Passenger side mirror is included but it interfered with the antenna so it was not installed.
Trunk / Boot: New reproduction wide white wall spare with factory cover and hold down. Restored jack assembly and original factory wood wheel chock. New Goers trunk board kit and carpet.
Extras & fun stuff: 3 Ace replacement air filters in their original boxes from the 60's. Original factory 300F sales brochure. Original 1960 Chrysler full line color brochure. 300F fold out brochure. 1960 Chrysler shop manual. Laminated copy of the original build card with a letter from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. Chrysler logo visor mirror. Period correct Grado under dash FM radio tuner. Two original correct Carter choke stove heaters if you prefer them over the hidden relay operated electric choke system installed. Spare original correct Autolite logo 3512 coil. Two vintage quality tune up kits by Ampco. Spare Atlas voltage regulator in the original box. Spare parking brake housing, drum and shoes. Second 'red ball' antenna mast. Large assortment of books, magazines and club publications on the Chrysler 300 Letter Cars and the 300F. And the passenger side mirror, original radio and steering wheel previously mentioned.
The dash clock started making an intermittent grinding noise so I disconnected it. I believe JC can now convert them to quartz. And the vacuum operated windshield washer doesn't work correctly. A 61 Chrysler washer switch to convert it to an electric system is included. I never planned to drive it in the rain and really didn't see a need for a clock. The parking brake works most of the time but the pedal sometimes doesn't stay locked in the down position.
Runs cool and seems to drive and stop well although I haven't driven it much over 40 MPH around my neighborhood. Upshifts are very firm as you would expect from a performance car. As Michael Burke told me, these cars need to be driven. I wish I could keep it as it's always been my favorite but my heated storage is gone and I have moved it to my home garage. I have owned it for 24 years with restoration beginning about eight years ago and it still hasn't seen rain. Please email any questions and I'll try to answer them quickly. I am happy to work with the buyer to arrange transport.
