Description

Here's our beloved Daihatsu Atrai Minivan - a Japanese Import vehicle which we purchased from Import Mpv Centre in Kidderminster on 3rd October 2013.We have owned, used and loved the vehicle for just over 2 years. It has primarily been driven by my wife for short runs to preschool, swimming etc.
The car is UK registered with plates etc. (photos are the ones sent to use before we bought it).
What we love about this car?
7 seater - the back row has 2 seats which can either be folded either by backrest, or more completely consealed by 'sliding' them under the middle row. the middle seat row can slide forwards/backwards.Great size / Dead Easy to Park - although this is a 7-seater, it's about the same length as e.g. Vauxhall Corsa so it's amazing for parking. its really narrow as well.Japanese Reliability - the car has the same 1.3 engine used in the Toyota Yaris. We've had 3 mot's since we've had it and all have passed 1st time. All we've had to do is service it every year.Sliding doors - amazing for getting kids in and out.Cargo Carrier / Van Mode - all the seats can be folded/slid out of the way, putting the mpv into 'van mode'- it's amazing how much you can load into this thing, and it's height has been really useful for transporting all sorts of things from cots to tvs.Air Conditioning - front and rear. the air con works really well. due to the height the car is really airy which is nice for all. Double Din Radio - We fitted a double din (big screen) radio into the car. you can play dvds etc. it is also dab. it should also have hands free bluetooth which used to work buts it doesn't now and we've not managed to get this fixed - i think it's something to do with the bluetooth receiver/transmitter antenna from the radio but i'm not sure.Fuel Economy - i've never exactly measured the fuel consumption but i'm sure its over 40mpg. the 1.3 engine makes it much cheaper to run than most other 7 seater automatics out thereCampervan potential - i'm not an expect on campervans but i know that many of these vans (and the toyota sparky which is exactly the same vehicle), are converted to make campervans.Snow Mode - yes there's a snow mode button. not sure what this button actually does but i know the atrai handles very well in snow/ice. we live in a rural location with ungrited roads so we've tried it. I should add though that all the roads where we live are flat - not tested on icy/snowy hills.Downsides
a small tin of hammerite paint leaked as it rolled around the floor. this caused a carpet-mat stain under the middle row. since its under the seat its not very visible. its stained the carpet mat, and not the actual carpet. some paint also went onto the end of the middle seat belt which was hanging down.the rear reflectors need sticking down - they've been loose for ages but don't fall off because they're held by clips. i just need to put some silicone adhesive around the reflector to fix it down. i'l try and do this before the car is sold.there probably will be some light scratches etc so if you are very particular about scratches etc then i strongly consider coming to view/ inspect the vehicle for yourselves.the nearside sliding door doesnt unlock with the central locking (it often does it you press the unlock button twice though) - all the other doors unlock, we've just been opening the passenger door and lifting the lock 'pin thing' by hand. awhile back my mechanic opened the door panel and lubricated some of the locks working parts and it worked fine for quite awhile,so i guess this needs doing again.its due for a service - the engine is really simple to work on (lift front seats up and engines under there!). parts are available and are same as the extol van. engine parts same as yaris.motorway - i've taken this minivan on a few motorway journeys (100 mile nottingham - london). the minivan will go to 75mph no problem but 80mph is about all you want to go. i drive a 5 series bmw so maybe i'm spoilt but personally i think this minivan is best for driving around cities as opposed to long distance runs - just something to bear in mind before buying. brilliant for nipping around town, but there's no point boasting this to be a cross-country cruiser, because it's not.
We welcome any viewers for this vehicle. Call 07968 096911 if you have any questions.
