Description
Up for grabs is an aero-flow Mk1 Cortina. Someone was clearly in the process of
building a GT replica before we were offered it about 5 years ago. Other projects mean it’s time to be realistic
and move it on.
The car is in reasonably sound condition. It does have some patches of rust in the usual spots you expect for a Mk1 – bottom of doors, spare wheel well, and the bottom of the rear quarters. All easy fixes for someone with minimal welding skills. Importantly, the floor is solid as you can see from the photos.
Other than the small spots of rust, the body is very straight. The paint obviously needs redoing. Not sure if gold was the original colour but the white roof is good. The drivers side door has a rust stain that looks worse that it is. Can probably throw in a good door if necessary.
Grill, headlight rings, tail light bezels and other trim like bumpers etc. are all there and are straight and very usable.
All GT chrome strips come with the car and are in good condition as are the chrome moulds around the door frames. Difficult items to come by these days.
Wheels are 12 slotters. The 4th one is in the boot.
Door cards are in good condition as is the back seat. Usual rips along the top of the front bench seat.
Car currently has no motor or gearbox fitted but there is a gearbox in the boot, along with the other 12 slot wheel. Diff housing is GT (anti-tramp arm mounts on housing), but body mounts and tramp arms are missing. Diff ratio is unknown.
