Description

This auction is for a 1968 Ford Mustang Convertible . 200 6 CYL with auto trans. This car belongs to an elderly woman friend of ours who asked if I could help her sell the car. I will give you the best information that was given to me and also the condition of the car as I honestly see it. I try to give the best information possible so there are no surprises when you see it. Also it would be best to call if you need a more indepth description. The lady that owns the car is in her 70's now . The car was purchased for her mother back in the early 70's. Various repairs were being done so her mother could take it to car shows but unfortunately she passed away before the work was completed. The car was put in storage for aprox the past 40 years until now. We were asked to bring it to our shop , get running and driving, do up grades as needed and clean it up the best we could. We pulled the valve cover and oiled and lubed up the cylinders and valves. We were told that the motor was rebuilt . Looking in the cylinders and head area it does appear to be new. We made sure to turn everything over before starting. We did replace the starter with a new one, fresh battery, new fuel pump, and complete tune up. We disconnected the fuel line to the tank and put on an alternative fresh fuel source. We drained the fuel tank and what came out seemed ok but we didn't want to take any chances. The motor runs excellent. We did have a couple of shots where the carburetor was cooperating but after spraying some carb clean came right out of it. Trans shifts smoothly. Brakes shoes were cleaned up , master cyl cleaned, and some new wheel cylinders brakes work fine. We did a complete clean up of the interior and exterior of the car. The interior is in real nice shape with the exception of the front seat covers being from JC Whitney. Dash is perfect , carpets are new , door panels are nice, and top is fairly new. Also a new rear top well is in place. The outside of the car has an amateur paint job at best. The doors forward are a shade off. From what I can see the left front fender was replaced, front valance panel between bumper and grill was dented and flattened back out. Look like the hood had a little repair also. Probably was in a fender bender early in life and was repaired. I dont see any type of damage that would of been serious. Everything is straight and solid. Just the typical dings and dents that these cars get over there life time. There were new re chromed bumpers, N O S rocker panel moldings , taillight housings, back up light housings, side marker housings, bumper guards, etc that came with the car so we put them on. All electrical s work fine. Headlights , taillights , turn signals, stop lights, plate light, backup lights, radio, wipers , and interior lights . The top is non power goes up and down easily by hand. All glass is in great shape. The tires are the correct bias type tires but you would probably want to go with a set of radials. As far as the body is concerned it is 98% rock solid original . No replacement panels other then what I mentioned. The only thing I see as far as prior repair issues is the passenger side front and rear floor pan both were removed and two repair panels were put in place and seam sealed. You could just put a little filler around the edge of the pans , sand it down smooth and either paint or undercoat the under side and would not be noticeable. I can't stress enough how solid and clean the complete frame rails front to back are , also the torque boxes and the main brace beam that goes across the car for structure . Even the original rocker panels still have the weep holes. Drivers side of the car is solid original. I know this is a lengthy description but I feel you should know what you are looking at before you bid. We are putting what we feel is a fair reserve considering the condition of the car. This would make a nice driver the way it is and fix it up nicer as you go along. IF YOU HAVE UNDER 25 FEED BACK DO NOT BID UNLESS YOU CONTACT US BY PHONE. JUST WANT YOU TO BE SERIOUS AND FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THE SALE SHOULD YOU BE THE WINNING BIDDER.
