Description

1966 Ford Mustang- The build you see was done about 10 years ago. There was rust repair in several places. I will notate my findings in detail below. I have the below flicker album with 178 pictures showing everything I saw. I do my best to represent a car for what it is. I am trying to be as critical as I can in the below notes. I would call this car a drivable project in many aspects. It shows very well, and people love it, but if you want it really nice you will need to do work.
style="">
Body: The paint is actually very good. Its not by any means perfect. The stripe is under the clear. The original mustang body must have had rust in the front floor pans as well as in the wheel wells. The pans have been replaced, and there are patches in the wheel well areas. The front spoiler is an after market Shelby style with a small air dam. The installation is solid on the nose, but the driving lights are lose. they do work. The rear spoiler is molded in to the trunk area and there is evidence of filler starting to crack at the mounting point. The bottom of the passenger door is showing rust through the repair as is the lower rocker. Drivers door is not showing yet, but it could be there. The side vents are not open vents. they have closed ends. Well mounted. I would guess the odometer reading is from when it was re built. Chrome and stainless inside the car all shows well. The tail lights appear to be original Ford units from a Tbird. They are mounted outside as apposed to from behind. The hood utilizes only the hood pins to lock. No secondary latch. They do hold nicely.
Interior: The interior is in very good condition. The seats are Procar. They are covered in vinyl. The seem to sit too high for a tall person, but they are solidly mounted. Arm rest on the passenger side has come off but it is still half mounted. Carpets and door panels are OK. The radio is a repo with am/fm but it works intermittently. The center console is nice but it is not mounted. The headliner is done in a Alcantra type fabric and it fits well. the dome light is not right. It looks like its from an RV. After market gauges are inserted in the stock positions and appear to work properly with the exception of the fuel gauge. Ask me how I know. A half tank is actually empty. The car pushes easily.
Chassis: As previously noted the front pans have been replaced. I can not tell if they were butt welded or seam. I took detailed pictures in the Flicker album. There are patches as previously noted. The rear springs are now multi Leif. The rear end is a 9 inch ford. I did not hear any wine at speed. The front brakes have been converted to disk using a Willwood proportioning valve. They are not power assisted. The brake pedal has about 1 1/2 inch of play before the brakes work, but they work well once past the gap. The front frame rails appear to have been gusseted with a thick layer of steel. Exhaust is fairly new and in good shape. Tires are date coded 2006. they have little wear but are considered old in the tire world. The wheels are U.S. made American racing which is very unusual, and a bit rare.
Trunk: Surface rust showing under the felt pad. Trunk seal leaks when the rain is heavy. There is a patch on the back edge that I am not familiar with. It may be original, but it looks like its been done at the restoration point.
Engine and Transmission: the engine appears to be a period correct 302. Doubtful it is original, but it could be. The build seems very mild. The carb is an Edelbrock with an electronic choke. The ignition is an HEI. the motor starts and runs well. No hesitation, and it idles perfectly. The radiator is a new aluminum with an thermostatically controlled fan. Both work well. Hoses are good. belts need replacing. Fuel pump appears to be new. The transmission appears to have a problem with going into 3rd gear. It is a C4 which is not expensive to re build if it is going.
This is a running and driving mustang. It needs work. I have priced it very fairly at the bottom of the value range. I encourage anyone interested to go to the Flcker album and look at each picture. These pictures show everything I have said and maybe more.

The car is available for inspection. It appears like a very good project car that can be brought back to life with some mechanical work. The car is for sale outside of the auction, and I encourage you call me to discuss pricing.
