MARLIN KIT CAR - Unfinished project. See question listed below which seems to confirm it is the SVA compliable Cabrio version.
Please check with the very helpful Marlin Owners Club for information about the kit carsMarlin is a British manufacturer founded in 1979 in Plymouth as Marlin Engineering and now located in Crediton, Devon England.
The company was founded by Paul Moorhouse, who, after building aseries of one off cars for his own use decided to put one intoproduction as a kit car. The first kits were sold in 1979.Ford CortinaMk III or IV parts. Of those who had bought Roadsters originally, somenow wanted more room for offspring and partners who also wanted to enjoythe fun of the Marlin. So 1983 saw the introduction of the Ford Cortina(later, Sierra) based Berlinettas as a 2+2 coupé. This came completewith previously unheard of luxuries such as wind-up windows, a lockableboot and a hardtop option. A touring car rather than a sports car, salesof the car were fewer than the Roadster, mainly due to the more limitedmarket for such a car.
Based on an H'reg Sierra Sapphire 2.0 Efi. This model has the proper opening doors which have been fitted with electric windows. There is no V5 but i do have the details of the Sierra used for the base vehicle. i have not tried to get it running as it has been dry stored for many years so it will need collecting on a trailer or transporter. It has newly refurbished Cosworth alloys with new tyres, the wiring loom is fitted as are the brake pipes and running gear, the dashboard has been made up with the correct Marlin clocks but is not fitted, the seats are black cloth MX5 with seat covers, there is a brand new aluminium fuel tank, stainless steel exhaust system, hood frame and cover, the electric windows are fitted to both doors but nothing is up and running and there is s till plenty of work to be done ! Please do not think this is a weekends work but neither is it a basket case that has sat it a leaking garage for years, all the items have been fitted very professionally and i wouldnt think there is much to be bought to complete the car.
It really needs viewing before bidding so you know what you are letting yourself in for so any questions please ask.
