Maserati/Ferrari History
Ferrari took over Maserati in 1999 making Maserati its luxury division. In 2001 Ferrari completely re-tooled and modernised the Modena factory and in 2002 launched the 4200 Coupe and Spyder models. The 4200 replaced the older 3200GT model range, the 4200 is regarded as a huge improvement on its predecessor, the 3200, in areas such as build quality, reliability, engineering and handling. The 4200 also saw the installation of a Ferrari engine from the Ferrari 430 model. In 2005 Maserati merged with Alfa Romeo.
