Description
This is a beautiful 1970 Mercedes Benz 280SL that comes with a documented history of ownership and service. The car was originally owned by one family until 2002, when it was sold. The vehicle was then purchased by it’s current owner in 2005. It has a 4 – speed manual transmission and 42,543 of what is believed to be original miles. This is a numbers matching example that has the original welding spots and headlight dimples from the M.B. factory. The paint is correct to the original color code of 124 – Arabian Grey and 040 – Black for the hard-top roof and hub caps. In 2015 this vehicle was extensively serviced by the Mercedes Benz Classic Center in Irvine, California. The servicing included:
• New boots on fuel pump electrical wires installed.
• All front fuel hoses and filter replaced.
• Air and filter assembly removed and repaired.
• New battery charger installed.
• Distributor removed and repaired.
• New spark plugs and wire set installed, dwell and timing set.
• Engine checked for leaks, idle speed adjusted, fluids checked and filled.
• New oil cooler hoses installed.
• The oil filter housing repaired and rebuilt. New check valves, seals and gaskets installed.
• New engine cooling and heating system hoses and clamps installed.
• New water pump, thermostat, and radiator cap installed.
• The reservoir tank removed and repaired
• Transmission removed, repaired and resealed.
• New throttle linkage balls & sockets, brass bushings for linkage shaft installed.
• Throttle body removed and re-bushed.
• Suspension and brake components removed, cleaned and repaired.
• New wheel bearings, sway bar, bushings, brake pads and hoses installed.
• Rear axle removed and repaired, new rear shocks installed.
• Drive shaft removed, repaired and balanced.
• New u-joints installed.
• Brake system removed and repaired.
• Exhausted system removed, cleaned and repaired.
