Description

Due to needing a larger home and moving out of hot rodding into family life (aka mini van life ) its time to sell my car that I love so much . I spent 13 years looking for a rock solid car that i could slowly make into something very nice and lasting. I found this original 4 speed 442 down in Georgia and it was very very solid clean . When I looked under it I knew I had to have this car . The floors and frame had zero rust , not even scale , the body seams and spot welds where all original and the doors closed as tight as a industrial walk in cooler . The previous owner said it had the original vinyl top and there wasn't a bubble or blister i could find , it even had a nice original headliner , and rear package shelf . I was amazed , and bought the car . Now its time for this car to hopefully find a good home and new owner .
- i will do my best to describe the different systems of the car but please ask any questions ! I do not in any way want to mislead someone .
* body and frame - very very solid , looks like 1 repaint that would be good driver paint with some scratches , chips, dings , scuffs, etc. looks good but i was going to eventually redo it and make it perfect . frame and floors no scale or rust , body seams including quarters door bottoms all clean and original , trunk floor, and inner, outer wheel houses immaculate , lower fender to cowl attachment original and solid (may have some body work in lower fenders but solid). core support and hood in very solid condition . around the windows looks very nice and clean . trim and bumpers look nice as well.
*electrical looks all original including : fuse block, under dash, taillight harness and front headlight harness, engine harness looks good as well. only thing that i was a bit upset about was the modern cd player . i was going to change it out for the original radio eventually .
* interior is very clean including : door panels , rear inner quarter panels , package tray , headliner , dash , front bucket seats and beautiful 4 speed console , steering wheel is nice as well and car has all working rally pack gauge set. i was going to change out the front plastic kick panels due to aftermarket speakers . I removed 1 bucket seat and took a picture of the seat under side and seat tracks and that can really really tell you a lot about the car(perfect) . The seat tracks are like new . the carpet is great , and under the carpet the floors are solid and original .
*steering and suspension: i drove the car for a few summers the steering was very tight and drove straight, suspension was tight with no pulling and no rattles , the steering effort was what amazed me . it was the absolute nicest easiest car i have ever drove . steering effort with 1 finger (unreal) . car drove straight and nice with zero vibrations even with the old school biased ply tires and Creager wheels . brakes all worked great including emergency brake .boxed rear control arms with larger diameter front and rear sway bars , front disc brakes rear drum.
* drive line and engine . clutch was smooth with no chatter , original muncie 4 speed shifted smooth and tight and reverse lockout on the steering column worked in order to remove the keys , rear axle is the 3.91 Oldsmobile rearend and was smooth and no whine, or vibrations, posi track worked just fine :) :) :).new stainless dual exhaust with headers , and flowmaster mufflers , and trumpet exhaust tips .
My fun had ended when the engine slowly was loosing oil pressure . The Engine was a non original F block 455 that had been bored .040 (bores are still nice) . The engine was running well but i noticed a drop in oil pressure , eventually i noticed a slight knock that would go away once oil pressure hit . i removed the 455 and the bearings where worn but nothing spun . the problem was that the crankshaft was already ground down to .030 rods and .030 mains and pretty much was non useable . after saving some more $$$ i was able to purchase a brand new 4.5 inch stroker crank from eagle , and some 6.800 aftermarket rods which i have pictured . the pistons i was going to have made custom by JE pistons but that's where i stopped in the project . i was going to go with aluminum edelbrock heads and a new edelbrock aluminum intake - so i gave my friend the old pistons, rods, heads and intake . you basically will get the block new stroker crank, new 6.800 aftermarket rods , new 7 qt oil pan with pickup, new oil pump, gasket set . this is where i stopped in the project . all parts pictured on the cardboard will come with it including radiator and shroud. a guy could drop in a 350 400 or 455 meanwhile and go have fun this summer while building the stroker (just a thought ) 455s could be had for $1500-$2500 for a nice one if you shop around.
I hope that my description helps and please again ask questions . i figure the car is worth low to mid 30's in running order so i based my asking price off that . feel free to make offers- i will consider them for sure .
as far as the title i have that in my name in hand .- as soon as car is paid for i can mail the title(transferable NY registration) to you along with a bill of sale .I will provide a tracking number for the paperwork I mail you. all parts will be placed in the trunk of the vehicle carefully . i will assist in loading the car and( may be able) to help with delivery as my brother delivers cars with his open trailer depending on your location for a delivery fee of course . im hear for you and will help as much as possible .
payment : id like to get paid cash as that's how i paid for it when i bought it . i have a small deposit required within 24hrs of the sale end through paypal . thanks . certified bank check would be a second option and im ok with it . but cash is preferred within 7 days of the sale end .
Car odometer says 49,225 and previous owned told me its original mileage , but I have no way of documenting this . car is very tight down the road and pedals show little wear .
