Description

Selling my 1968 Pontiac Firebird coupe with a nice custom flame job and black interior. The silver flames compliment the chrome accents nicely and gives the car some character. I know this car isn't moving down the road like a big block 454, but it sure looks like it just parked at a car show. Engine block "YJ" code for the 350 265 HP engine with automatic transmission. The engine bay was detailed a bit to make it look presentable. Clean clear California title in my possession.
Engine sounds strong and the transmission shifts as it should, doesn't smoke.
The car has a decent original black interior with a new rug. The center console is clean and so is the dash. The driver's side seat has a long tear in it, but the other seats are in good shape. While changing the rug, which had the original factory dated tags, I located a build sheet underneath the rear seat, but according to the great people at Pontiac Historical Society it belonged to the Pontiac before or after this one was built. It was standard practice for the factory assembly workers to put them anywhere once the cars were complete, they didn't know they were going to be so significant 50 years later. The new owner can definitely have it, just remind me!
There are currently 87,392 miles on the vehicle, NOT rolled over. The mileage on the title states 84,334, so the previous owner put 3000 miles on her. Very reasonable mileage for a 50 year old car!
The bumpers, front grille and trim are all in original condition (Not rechromed or brand new hardware). Has new shocks, coil springs, gas tank, new battery, new water hoses, coil, spark plug wires etc. Safety equipment like emergency brake and all lights work.
The floors and the trunk pan are very clean. I inspected the floors when the new black carpet was replaced and they are legit. All seatbelts are intact for family cruising.
The glass all around is in great shape (front passenger window has the Firebird logo on the front corner of the glass).
The paint has a really deep gloss as you can see in the photos, there might be a suttle knick or scratch from driving it once in a while.
The rims were refreshed with new paint. The tires have plenty of thread and are ready for cruising.
The VIN number, 223378U122346 is coded as follows:
2 GM
2 Series (Firebird)
3 Model (all 67-69 models)
37 Sport Coupe (67-69)
8 1968
U Assembly Plant (Lordstown, Ohio)
122346 Sequential production number (numbers starting with 600001 for L6 models and 100001 for V8 models)
Body tag Info (Cowl tag):
1968
Lordstown build
N Exterior color Flambeau Burgundy
253 Black interior Strato bucket seats
11 C November 3rd week build.

There are a few things that need updating and I want to address them, so YOU are aware of them. These are updates that do NOT need immediate attention (winter sanity to do list):
* The black vinyl top shows some bubbling on the rear passenger side and driver's side rear bottom corner, see picture.
* The front driver's side seat has a long rip. A new set of front 67-68 bucket seat covers sell for $129.95 on Firebirdcentral.com
* The exhaust manifold gasket has to be replaced due to a small leak on the front driver's side. Gaskets are about $35.00 + your own time and or cost of labor.
* Brakes could be adjusted and or front end should be aligned (I figured that the new owner would install disc brakes if they wanted to update the bird).
* New hood hinges to align the hood more precisely. A new set cost $125.00 on Firebirdcentral.com
I didn't want to take more time replacing everything to make this Firebird a show car and NOT actually enjoy driving the Firebird this summer. I figured that someone could swap out a few things during the winter time if he/she chose to.
Now for the common sense auction information:
This is a private person to person sale. I do NOT conduct transactions with Ebayers located outside of the United States, I don't care how many deals you have done! Please inspect the car yourself and or send an inspector on your behalf.
Shipping is obviously the responsibility of the winning bidder!
I accept wire transfers, Paypal, certified bank checks and cash as payment. Once the funds are cleared, I will next day the title to the winning bidder.
Most importantly, if you have any questions about the bird or just want to talk in person (like business was done in the old days) feel free to call me at (203)521-7 eight 5 eight. I will return your call immediately if I'm at work!
Look around this is a really cool bird that turns heads at a very fair and affordable price. If you want a plain Jane Firebird, this isn't the car for you. You’ll pay more money for something that looks like everyone else's and you won’t stand out from the crowd!

Thanks,
Louie
