Description

Up for auction is my 1963 ex-Tasmanian Hydro Commission Haflinger restoration project. This survivor is one of the first shipment of Haflingers imported into Australia in 1963/64.It is one of the first 'tropical' Haflingers with the cyclonic air filter. The Hyro Commission in Tasmania owned a fleet of 3 or 4 or these and were helicoptered into remote locations to survey new dams. I found this in a state of complete disassembly, originally from a deceased estate in Northern Tasmania. It was complete and only suffering minor surface rust. I have photos taken throughout the restoration process.Just about everything has been reconditioned or is new. Motor fully reconditioned by Tony Hrelja (Haflinger Specialist mechanic) with high compression pistons, Gearbox fully reconditioned, new brakes (lines, fitting, drums machined, brake cables), new Mayola tyres, lights lenses, wiper motor, fully reconditioned fuel tank, and fantastic paintwork. It just needs to be put back together. The only hitch is that I fitted the rear axles the wrong way around, so these need to be removed and refitted. The only things not yet restored are the 4-doors, canopy and hood bows (rear bow need to be fabricated). Ive attached 2 historic photos of what this Haflinger would have looked like and will look like again.Once complete, this will without doubt be the best example of a Series I Haflinger in Australia, a true concourse winner candidate. Inspections welcome at Lane Cove NSW during business hours.Payment within 5 days of auction close. Pick up from Lane Cove NSW.
