Description

Rare and extremely difficult to find in North America. There are many TRs, spitfires and the like out there but this 1963 Triumph Herald 1200 convertible is extremely rare. Very good body, chassis and motor. The body is rust free as it has been mostly garage kept in the US for decades before I brought it to Canada last year as even the floorboards are rust free before restoration. It has clean lines and the frame is strong and sturdy. Car has been thoroughly anti-rusted to last another 50 years It was inspected and passed a rigorous Inspection early this year when and is now registered and on the road. Everything on the car works and a tachometer ,Kill switch and voltmeter has been added. Due to its excellent condition, it has earned Collector plates. Was awarded SCCA National Champion between 1965-1973 Engine no and chassis nos match Vin is GA90700LCV Engine No : GA95516HE. Spent over $11,000 on recent repairs and upgrades and an additional 500 hours doing up the car with all parts imported from England. Bills to show. The car is stock except for the following : entire brake system has been replaced with discs in front and drums at rear. Fuel pump is now electronic. Steering rack, Clutch and brake master cylinders replaced with new originals. Engine flushed and all fluids regularly replaced. Horns replaced and spot lights and a brand new 13" wooden steering wheel is included( costing $350 but not yet installed) . Everything on the car works. It comes with a box full of brand new parts like gaskets, fuses, bulbs, bushes, seals, mounts, rubber plugs, cables, boots, etc and used front brakes, pads, calipers and rear brakes, drums, carberator, brake and clutch master cylinders, cables etc etc) It has 62,399 miles on it believed to be genuine but the speedometer was replaced by me at 64000 miles with a brand new one as the fuel meter within the old speedometer was not working. The wheels have all been sandblasted and painted white. Tires are almost 100% . All rubber and seals and bushings are replaced including the steering rack. Comes with owners handbook and Jack. Brand new carpets, seats, convertible top and several engine and other mechanical parts. Has good compression on all cylinders. Runs and drives well and is sure to turn . This car was picked by the Provincial newspapers during Father's Day car show in July 2015 among over 1600 classic cars to be featured in a full page article in the Provincial newspapers and in the magazine throughout Canada - driving.ca . New seat belts have been installed at both front and rear. Check out Hagerty's valuation of a car like this - it ranges from US$9000( condition 3) , $14000( condition 2) and is up to US$22000 (condition 1). This car can be considered at least 2.5 under Hagerty's scale There is a Herald currently selling in England ( and it is not even a convertible, and hence of lesser value) asking for £16,000. The same type of car was once owned by John Lennon of the Beatles. This Herald was originally white with a black hood ( similar to John Lennon's) but has been painted original cherry red( standard Triumph colour) some 20 years ago and given a fresh coat of the same colour last year- and a tan hood and seats to match. I searched all over for this car as it was my first car as a youth some 45 years ago. Now health issues force me to sell it off reluctantly. You can see the car running in a video clip from YouTube ( 1963 Triumph Herald) . A deal at US$9500/- Shipping and handling is buyer's responsibility. Car can be imported to US with no problem as it does not need to meet any emission standards and is a former US registered car
