Description

Selling my 1947 Dodge Cab Over Engine 1 1/2 ton truck model WFM38. 151 inch wheelbase. 48889 miles. I believe this to be the original mileage due to the overall nice condition of the truck. Originally a City of Los Angeles Dept of Water and Power truck. ( There is a tag on the dash stating: Dept of Water and Power, Plant Division). It was auctioned off in 1969 by the City of Los Angeles and I purchased it from the man who won the bid at that time. Fantastic condition. Better than me! Completely original and 99.999% complete. Original flathead 6. I drove her occassionally on my ranch then parked her where she sits now two years ago this month. The only reason for parking her was that she was dripping gas from the carb. I never got around to fixing her. The right door has two bullet holes in it and so does the glass. (See Photo) It is flat glass so it is an easy repair. Original mirrors but they are broken. They can be easily fixed as the backs of the mirrors unscrew. The flat glass windshields each have a crack but are still in place and can be used for patterns. There are a few MINOR dents on the top of the cab but nothing major. I could only find one place where there is some rust and it is a small spot on the cab floor. There is no other cancer that I have ever seen and I have looked!. There are a few surface rust spots where the paint is chipped. The paint is a faded yellow but it has worked well to keep the rust off of the truck. The 12' 4" x 7' 3" flatbed is a more recent replacement and is not original to the truck although it looks and works just fine. Perfect fenders with headlights, steps and running boards. The radiator looks like new with no fins bent. One headlight is missing only the beauty ring. Good set of doors and all window and door hardware is present. The original seats are all there and are in good serviceable condition. The dash is complete and the gauges work. The speedometer hand has fallen down and needs to be re-glued in place. Tires appear to be good with a lot of tread. She is currently not running and I have just lost all desire to work on it. I am sure the battery is dead by now. Will assist your shipper in loading the truck or you can pick her up here on a trailer. I hauled her on my own car hauling trailer. If you need time to pick her up there is no problem in storing her here for a few months if she is paid in full.
This is a nice 100% original truck if that is what you are interested in. Ready to restore to new condition or you could use it as is without making this a big project. This truck is the best example of an old all original, unrestored COE that I have ever seen. Happy to answer any questions you may have. Hope she finds a nice home with you!
