Description

FALCON XD.
ITEM DESCRIPTION: This auction is for my much loved XD Falcon. It started life as a 6 cylinder/3 speed manual (floor shift) in yellow - according to the compliance plate. I purchased it in 1998 to use as a daily driver, where it came equipped with a weak 2v engine, FMX, and standard diff, but with a gorgeous (at the time) metallic red paint job. From there I further customised it to the point where it was impractical for everyday use, and finally let the rego lapse (due to insufficient funds) a full 10 years ago.
ENGINE: XE 'black block' with 4V open chamber heads, shaved TFC manifold, and 830'Pro' Holley carb (not the 'Demon' carb shown in the pic).
Block was fully prepped before assembly. Crank was ground, nitrided, and fitted with 6 inch conrods and HD 10:1 pistons to produce the 376 displacement, and the assembly was balanced. A rollmaster timing chain was fitted, with a solid Wade camshaft with more than .600" lift (duration unknown). A Romac steel balancer, windage tray, and a high volume sump were also fitted.
Heads were ported and have Manly stainless valves, roller rockers, Isky springs, chrome moly pushrods plus many other quality parts.
The whole engine was assembled with quality Detroit and FelPro gaskets.
Intake is a 1" shaved TFC with an 830 pro Holley, fed by a high-volume Holley Mechanical pump, and the spark is provided by a Bosch distributor and ICE coil.
Exhaust is 4 into 1 headers feeding twin 2 1/2 inch system with crossover pipe.
Other features - custom radiator, twin thermos.
DRIVELINE: Fully worked C10 auto with 3800 stall and B and M shifter. Diff is a 9 inch with 4:11 gears, full spool, and huge Moser 31 spline axles.
BODY: Retains the 30 year old red paint job which is showing it's age. Some of the panels are excellent, but driver's side doors are weathered, with stone chips and waves under the paint (depending on the light). Bonnet has a hole for the shaker which was fitted when I was running an Accelerator manifold (which sat the carb lower). Bumpers were repainted in the 2000's, and need redoing.
MISCELLANEOUS: Wheels are Centerline Billet, 17x 7 and 17 x 8.5. Tyres are roadworthy but very hard (due to age) and need replacing. Interior is a custom cloth with a BM shifter and Autometer tacho. All gauges work, and the in-dash tach has been swapped for a V8 model. Many other new parts have been fitted
