Description

Hi,
You are looking at my Honda Insight with appx. 147.5K miles on it. This has been a fantastic car with nary a problem during my ownership. I have maintained as per Honda recommendations. If you are not aware of these cars they are rated at 64MPG hwy and 48 MPG City. A couple of years of commuting will pay for the car. It has new tires. It has professionally installed electric sunroof so you will likely have the only Insight in the US with a sunroof, does not leak and works great.
I did not purchase this car for commuting. I mainly wanted it to make coastal and mountain trips on the west coast very economically. Since my needs were to pack a folding bicycle (sale price includes a $700 Allen folding bicycle since I will not be using it anymore) and inflatable kayak and sleep in it on occasion, I had to remove the battery system to accomplish this. Due to the battery taking up all the trunk space and prevented reclining the seats it had to go for my purposes. This does not effect the running the car but you do lose some horse power as the electric motor is an assist to the small 1 liter motor but it has not been an issue for me. It is not practical to replace the batteries as they are $2500 for the set making it non-economical. Most Insights are running with end of life batteries as very few replace them based on the cost. Removing the battery does set off a check engine life. It will pass the smog/sniff test great except it may fail based on the CEL so if you live in a smog test area this may be an issue.
Since ride quality is important to me I run standard tires and not the narrow Potenza low friction tires normally used. This does cost some MPG. I average 56MPG on the hwy and 42 MPG City.
Paint and interior are great and everything works (except battery). Ice cold AC, great heat and has a Honda updated CD player. If you are commuter or take long trips this may be a great car for you. My wife and I would pack both folding bikes and a kayak and arrive in Gold beach for $22 (490 miles). If you are not interested in the Allen foldable bike let me know but it was purchased based on light weight and fitting perfect in the trunk.
The car is available for local pick up or I can meet you at the Portland Oregon airport.
