Description

I bought the E-Type from the US in late 2017 and after having some interior work done (recovered seats and interior set) I imported the vehicle to Australia in mid-2018.At the time of purchase the owner had described the E-Type as follows:
"I bought this car in August 2007 and drove it for about three years when the distributor gear stripped the drive inside the engine. I had the V12 engine completely rebuilt, which was necessary to access that drive gear, and while the engine was out I deciding to have it painted and do a conversion to covered headlamps and use the Jaguar SI E-Type lamps just like Jay Leno did on his red V12 convertible. The ignition has been upgraded to a more modern electronic ignition and the car now runs great.
The car is now painted the beautiful color of Aston Martin Mendip Blue after I saw the color on a DB9. The grill is the original with the emblem removed and then painted and polished similar to that of the DB9. The original grill emblem as well as any other original parts come with the car.
The car originally had air conditioning but it had been removed from the car. The original air conditioning compressor comes in a box and I have reinstalled some of the controls back to the interior although the knobs were missing.
I had an SU carb conversion kit installed on the engine about six months ago and are much better than the factory Strombergs. The original carbs can go with the car if you want them.
The car has the original engine, 7S3020SB. Here are all the original numbers off the VIN plate which has never been removed and is still attached with the original rivets.
Car No: IS7151515
Engine No: 7S3020-SB
Body No: 4S51724
Gearbox No: KL840
The mileage was listed at 41,935 miles"
On importing the E-Type my intention had been to gradually restore the vehicle as a presentable daily drive, though keep it as Left Hand Drive and have it complianced for use in Queensland. After discovering issues with the original automatic transmission I replaced it with a 4-Speed manual and had all the flywheel, clutch and pedal box conversion work done.
I had also intended to instal an aftermarket air conditioning system but this work has not progressed at the moment though the dash has been dismantled in preparation for the install.
Family, health issues and Covid forced this project onto the back burner for most of 2020 and 2021. I am now looking at returning to New Zealand in January or February, whenever air travel returns and as it is not practicable to take the
E-Type I am looking to sell it on now.
The car has been garaged since its import August 2018 and to be honest has had a little wear and tear since then but still presents nicely though not quite in the classic Series III style, some might indeed call it an improvement, but that may be open to speculation by others.
Please feel free to contact me if you would like to arrange inspection here in Brisbane.
