Description

Hi folks,
extremely excellent example of a rare and appreciating breed.
I've owned this car since 2014 and used as a daily driver, putting approximately 25,000 miles on her and basically fixing or replacing anything needed with a more or less open checkbook. The car was in a fender bender circa 2000, when the then owners son took it joy riding without Dad's permission, and rear ended another car(oops). The damage was cosmetic only but book value at the time was roughly 2k, and owner was not sophisticated about insurance companies and the curse of the salvage title, so he took the payout and kept the car. Prior owner is a noted modern artist who bought the car from the original owner, drawn purely by its looks. Not a car guy, just a lover of beauty. He is still alive, living and working in Palo Alto, CA and can tell you the entire story, as was told to me, if anyone is interested to verify.
He then put the car in storage for approximately 9 years, then shipped it to his son in law in Oregon, who is a very skilled body man. Right front fender and hood were repaired, and the car was repainted. Paint is extremely fine, not concours but HIGH driver quality, looks fantastic from virtually every angle. Later, he sold the car to the service dealer at his local tire shop, who market it up rather significantly, and from whom I bought the car. I paid a rather princely $14,000, knowing that the car had a salvage title but not caring because my intent was to have a gorgeous daily driver that I could enjoy without undue concern, and I knew the true story of how the title came about, and that the car was basically in fantastic original condition.
I proceeded to use the car as planned, putting right everything that needed work as the car was woken from its slumber. I am afraid to add up the invoices, but I am sure I have at least another 12,000 or more into rebuilding starting chokes and carbs, leak sealing, header tanks, radiator, misc electrical, upgrading to a 1" front sway bar for vastly improved handling, Euro headlight conversion (if you don't know what that means, look it upa great cosmetic upgrade) and much much more that I can't even recall.
Sale includes Heritage Certificate, a 6" stack of receipts going back to new, modern detachable face bluetooth stereo with phone interface, etc, PLUS the original 8 Track player, Sun roof litterature, manual, and much more. Just failed CA smog, w high CO at above 25 mph, haven't had the time to correct, if buyer is in CA or a smog state, we can discuss, but buy it now price reflects this, these have really grown in interest in the last few years. The pillarless coupe is an exemplary design, this is my favorite cruiser of all time, and I've had many, many jags, and other marques, as it were. It's fast, comfortable, stylish, and quiet. Gas mileage for me, around San Francisco area, a dismal 12 mpg, but gets much better with freeway use. There are two small dings on left front headlight rims, from a street parking incident in SF, which you can see in the photos, and one tear in the passenger door vinyl, both shown in the gallery, otherwise very very clean and ready to drive. Everyone says this, but I would truly not hesitate to jump in and drive to LA, for example.
Reach out with specific questions, or for photos of receipts, smog results, or anything else you might need. Oh, and a VERY popular 70s color! Selling because even though this did fulfill the purpose of amazing driver that I didn't think I would worry about on the street, I am beginning to worry about her. She deserves to go somewhere with a nice warm garage, not the insane daily grind of modern San Francisco! Happy to answer any questions at all. Thanks for looking!
Update: sold, then canceled and relisted! buyer thought car was RHD, wanted to ship to Australia. Original listing had a typo in title!
