Description
This is a reluctant sale of my Jaguar X-type 2.2 Diesel 6- speed. I bought this in March last year after I sold my X- type 2.0 diesel estate with 185,000 miles on the clock. That lasted me 5 years and was a brilliant car.
However, we are travelling abroad more often now and have recently bought a Citroen 7-seater to accommodate the children/grand-children when travelling. We rarely use 2 cars now and I have an old Saab convertible that I have started using in the summer months and will probably use it in the winter months as well. The Jaguar is hardly being used at all, so the time has come for someone else to enjoy it.
These Jaguar diesels are extremely economical. On a longer run they can average over 50 mpg and even round town can manage over 40 mpg. Couple this with comfort and a great ride, they really are a super buy. With a top speed of 137 mph, it cruises effortlesly at 70 mph in sixth gear at around 2000 rpm. Being the SE this has leather upholstery, electric heated front seats. satellite navigation, Bluetooth phone connector, CD player, cruise control, ABS, rear parking sensors, 4 electric windows, etc etc. The beige upholstery looks great with the Jaguar racing green exterior. The handling is excellent with a very precise gearbox.
There is a full service history with the last service being carried out in September last year at 125,396 miles. 2 new tyres were fitted and a new battery. I also had an alternator belt fitted in December last year along with a wheel bearing kit. There is a private plate fitted MIG 3950 which stays with the car.
Overall, the whole vehicle is in nice condition. There are a few marks and the odd scratches on the exterior but considering it is 8 years old, it really is good for it's age. The alloy wheels have a couple of marks but overall very respectable. The interior has normal wear and tear for the age of the vehicle, but still looks very good.
I have really tried to justify keeping the car but, realistically, it is just not practical to use it once in a blue moon; it needs to be used and appreciated. As the Saab was an inexpensive buy a few years ago, having a £3000 car standing idle in the garage does not really make financial sense. Great to have it there to use, but it really needs selling!
It is MOT'd till the 26/02/2016.
