Description

This is a good news - bad news situation. Lincoln Continental Town Car, out of rego since February this year, imported from the US about five years ago by the previous owner. Originally came from Iowa and has the original (now faded) dealer sticker on the rear. A very regretful sale as it's rusting out (obviously spent a little too long exposed to harsh winters and road salt) and only really suitable as a parts car now. The good news is the engine and transmission are in great shape. I've owned it for four years and taken it on several long trips along the East Coast and it performed beautifully. There's also a new exhaust system I had installed a few years back and, through it, the engine rumbles beautifully. Bad news is the rust is eating out the bonnet, front and rear guards around the parking lights, around the edges of the roof line and, presumably, under the vinyl roof. Interior still in very good condition though rain does leak into the boot (probably from the rubber seal around the boot). Windows are fine but electrics have broken down in three (in the fourth, the plastic thingey that guided the window movement disintergrated). Paint was always crappy. To be truthful, getting parts for this Lincoln was a nightmare (never a problem with the Cadillac I owned for 20 years before this) so if you have a Town Car of this vintage you can't walk past this opportunity. For the price, you get working engine and gearbox and exhaust, plus windows, seats, interior, quad 8 track radio combo, doors, bumpers, trim, even guards if you want to do a little restoration work. As for other probs, there's a ding on the passenger side and it's missing the trim under that door. Plus the rust. Who could forget the rust? It still breaks my heart. Been out of reg since Feb 2021 and battery is flat. If you'd like to inspect and hear the engine, bring some jumper cables.
