Description

Mazda MX-5 2001
For sale today is my husband's MX-5, affectionately known as the Monster. Yes, I'm one of those people who name their cars, and pretty much made him name his too, otherwise I was going to do it. My husband has owned him since August 2014, and has thoroughly enjoyed the time, especially during the summer! We're only selling him as we now have another dog (taking us to 3), and so he's gone and got himself something slightly more practical for our 4 legged friends.
The Monster has very low mileage for his age, rocking in at 81,705, MOT to 7th July 2016 with only one advisory (offside rear tyre worn close to legal limit), road tax is a bargain at £23.18 a month, and stacks of service history. Since we've owned him, we've had the micro v belt (the drive belt according to google!) and the fan belt replaced in December 2014, all brake discs and pads and a front calliper replaced in February 2015 (this car really does STOP) serviced in July 2015 alongside the MOT, and a smattering of new tyres (can't remember the exact number, but all the tyres have good tread). We also bought a grille for the front to protect the radiator. He's got an excellent service history, stacks of old MOT certificates, and a handy print out of the MOT history for Monster's whole life. The cambelt has been changed by a previous owner, a mere 30k miles ago. If you're looking for an honest hassle free and low maintenance MX-5 this is the one for you - it's been well loved and gently treated and cared for.

Now, it's obviously a convertible. I am delighted to say that the roof is in beautiful condition, and has *absolutely* no leaks whatsoever. It's in fantastic condition, no wear at all. The previous owner kept the Monster garaged all the time, and we've used the hardtop for most of the time my husband has owned him due to the somewhat pathetic summer we had last year! The hardtop is colour coded, and again, is in fab condition with no leaks, and plugs in so the rear windscreen is heated so can be cleared easily during the colder months. We have a padded bag to store the hardtop in when it's not in use, which hangs handily in the garage. We also have two tonneau covers which we've never used, but are included in the sale.
The body is in great condition, with no rust that Mazdas are so famous for. The marks around the petrol cap aren't marks, they're leaves! Obviously, it's a 15 year old car so there will be a few stone chips and such like, but nothing that stands out. With a quick polish, she looks a good 10 years younger, and has been mistaken for a 2009 car due to the reg number by quite a few of our friends. They were very surprised when we said it was 2001! The interior has 2 faults - the drivers side seat has a slight tear to the right hand side, and the passenger seat has a burn mark at the top of the seat by the headrest (both are pictured).
If you're looking for an awesome summer fun car, which doesn't sit wasting during the winter months, this is the car for you, because with the hardtop he's fun and practical all year round. He's an honest, well maintained car, who looks fantastic all year round, and my husband doesn't really want to sell him, but our driveway isn't really designed for 3 cars, so he has to go.
All inspections welcome. Test drivers are welcome too, with proof of suitable insurance. Please, no tyre kickers, I don't want to swap for a stolen push bike, or 13 chickens and a micro pig (I'm drowning in pets as it is), or a 'genuine' Rolex. Cold hard cash only please, no promises of I'll pay next week, but take the car now, and I don't want you to overpay me by cheque and I'll send you the rest of the money once it clears etc pretty please. Sorry to be unreasonable, and no offence to the millions of genuine ebayers out there.
Absolutely no warranty is given or implied, the Monster car is sold as seen. As previously said, all inspections are welcome :) buyer to pay £150 deposit by PayPal within 48 hours of hitting buy it now, rest cash on collection please. Buyer is responsible for collection, within 4 days of auction end, unless otherwise agreed.
If you have any questions, please do get in touch. My mobile number is 07825911442, calls and texts welcome, but not after 10pm please as I'm getting old and need my sleep!
Happy ebaying!
