Description

I have been working on these cars for a long time and know what problems they suffer from. Please read this entire writeup it should answer most questions you may have about this car and if you are looking at another S55 AMG this should give you an idea what to items to check for.Over the years I have made many friends restoring several Mercedes cars both at the dealer and body shops. All the parts I purchase for any Mercedes I restore come from Mercedes Benz of North Haven CT I know most of the back shop and parts guys there. This car started in Florida went to Pennsylvania as a CPO then to me.I got it with 47000 miles now has 69000 miles summer car only with 4 trips to Daytona beach Florida in the past 3 years and some smaller trips.

September 2012 Four new TPMS sensors from Dealer and new Michelin Super Sport Tires
All Fluids Flushed and changed ABC,Power Steering,Trans,Brake,Cooling,Fuel Filter,Air Filters,ABC Filter,Power Steering Filter,Engine Oil and Filter,Diff Fluid,Cabin Filters.

December 2012 Car on Blocks For the Winter.
I was getting an alarm from the license plate light so I changed both of them
The Spark Plugs were original so they needed to be changed the wires were changed by the dealer in 2010 so they were good.In doing the plugs i noticed the valve covers were seeping both breathers and covers and breather hoses Done.

January 2013 When I Removed all the Covers Under the Car I Noticed the Rear Main Seal on the Engine was Weeping Quite a Bit and these 113 Motors suffer from this Condition so Having done Several of these I have all the Necessary Rear Main Seal Install Tools.Out Came The Exhaust System,Drive Shaft and Trans in order to swap out the Rear Main Seal while I was at it I Installed New Motor Mounts and a New Trans Mount. As far as the the steering goes I replaced the lower ball joints cause the rubber boots were torn and had it lined up in April.

February 2013 I was looking at the Head Lights and did not like the condition of them even after using a restore kit on them, when you look close I could see millions of tiny cracks in the polycarbonate and showed even more with the lights on.Being the lights are so large they cover a large portion of the front of the car the only answer was to get new lights from the dealer keep it original at a cost of 2050.00 for both(I get a good discount). The Signal in the Rear View was cracked so that needed Changing.
A few more things was New Floor Mats and New Keys and a New Battery.

March 2013 the Brake Pads were Just Done when I got the Car but the Dealer Uses Mercedes Pads Which create huge amounts of dust this is not acceptable so I have ceramic pads in my E-Class diesel and love them so I swapped them out the rotors were in great condition.Another set of Michelin Super Sport Tires were also needed.

December 2014 Car on Blocks For The Winter
These ABC Suspension Cars get a bad Rap because of Neglect on Fluid Change and Inspection. The car is 10 Years old and some things need to be changed cause of time and not millage.I installed a new ABC Pump,New Accumulators,Front,Rear and on the Valve Block. Two high Pressure Hoses also Changed. The Dealer Changed the ABC crossover hoses on a recall in 2010 so as far as the suspension all is very good.
The Rear Shade is Another Thing that stopes working and this car was no different
the glue that Mercedes uses to fasten the shade housing to the bottom of the rear deck dries out it comes loose flops around when raising it up and burns out the small motor.
You need to remove rear interior and entire trunk liner to get at it to swap out and fasten to the underside of the rear deck all set now. This Shade I Purchased Used Locally.
January 2015 The Keyless Start Button in the shifter worked 70% of the time so I ordered a new one and installed it.The window on the drivers side was not as fast as the Passenger side so I installed a new regulator and Motor to solve that problem.
The driver door external handle lock button did not work so I Installed a new Handle.
The sun Roof Wind Deflector Did not rise up cause of dried up broken plastic spring seats so I removed the sun roof replaced the broken parts cleaned the water channels
and lubricated it now all is well. The Supercharger Bearing is another maintenance item
along with the entire belt system all bearings have been replaced and or checked along with new belts. The Supercharger coolant Pump also has been Upgraded to the New Pump.Second set of Air Filters Too.
If you are looking for a super car to drive and not repair this is the one.If you ever tried one of these cars you know what I mean by (Super Car) $118,000.00 New.
This may be a guide to anyone looking for a S55 AMG
