Description

At one point, this car was the love of my life.
Inherited it when my grandfather died four years ago. It had been garaged for 20 years. Fixed it up quite a bit myself. New exhaust. Rebuilt Carb. New Tubing, new brakes, tires, master cylinder, fuel pump, starter, plugs, distributor New radio from RETROSOUND that has Bluetooth capacity, regular radio, aux, and the ability to take business calls with a microphone installed on the steering wheel. The Bluetooth password is 0000, so its pretty easy to remember. If you really want some good sound quality while on the road, you should switch out the old 70's paper speakers that came stock in the trunk with some modern blasters. I put a nice modern speaker under the front dash that significantly helped, as the stock one in its place had blown out at some point, probably in the 90's. I have also replaced a few other parts. I have been daily driving this vehicle for three years, and have fixed things as they break. As time has gone on I haven't had any mechanical issues for quite some time. Everything in this vehicle looks and feels original, but has been updated for modern convenience. The distributor is now managed by a computer, so it only needs to be tuned every say, twenty years, instead of every six thousand miles.
As you can imagine, this was one of the best cars to have while in college. A real head turner.
With your purchase, you will receive an excel spreadsheet, along with a physical manual, that lays out all repairs that have been done throughout the vehicles life.
Still sporting it's original paint job, minus a small touch up job I did when I first got it. I have been driving this for four years while in college. BEAUTIFUL LEATHER INTERIOR. ONLY SELLING BECAUSE I'VE SINCE FALLEN IN LOVE WITH A 1978 GMC GAUCHO (that I also needed for my eCommerce business and for moving frequently while in my early twenties).
Notable Issues: Driver side window needs new roller installed. Fixed closed. Needs mud flaps, and lower panel respray. Water kills. Without Mud Flaps the lower panels will need to be addressed every five years.
HIGH IDLE BROKEN: What this means is essentially when you wake up in the morning and start her, you will need to keep her alive using the gas pedal for about thirty seconds before the engine will run normally. After the third time you cold start her, you will know exactly what to do and it won't bother you at all (Hold gas pedal down slightly so that engine maintains a certain rpm range to where it doesn't die but you also aren't wasting fuel). This hasn't been fixed because the high idle part is not sold on its own, only with a brand new carb. She's rocking her original carb. The good: NOBODY CAN STEAL YOUR CAR!!! EVER.
-Also, I want someone to really take of this thing. You will be the seventh owner, I've done my best to keep track of every year the ownership was changed, interpreting the paper manual the comes with the excel spreadsheet.
Recommendation: Like I said, this thing drives a lot like it did in 74. I wasn't around back then, but I love doing burnouts in this thing. HOWEVER, gas stations love to put ETHANOL in their fuel. Avoid putting fuel in her that contains ethanol as much as possible. It corrodes rubber pieces in the carburetor and after frequent exposure the car will not run as well unless it is taken into a mechanic. Specifically, the float corrodes, causing the carb to flood frequently if ethanol fuel is used. Along with anything else that isn't metal. After driving her for a while you will know where you can find ethanol free fuel. I normally don't have any trouble finding it unless i'm on some desolate interstate strip. If you put fuel in the engine that has ethanol in it, after that fuel sits in there overnight you won't be doing burnouts until you burn through it all. Burnouts also may not happen if the engine is not warm enough.
Also, I want to make something clear, I have taken very good care of this American Manufacturing masterpiece. I may have done many burnouts throughout my time owning this vehicle, but I took this thing from dying at red lights to idling at lights like it was brand new.
