Description

1968 Mercury Cougar, 2 door, automatic.
I purchased this car in July of 2014 with the goal of restoration. I have since convinced myself that I do not have the proper equipment (lift, welder, etc.) and money to accomplish it. As close as I got to starting a restoration is putting it up on jackstands see photo). My best friend owed this car since 2002. When he needed to sell it, I took it on as a nod to our teenage years when both he and I drove Cougars. He had a '68, I had a '70. Sadly it has to go.
The good stuff-
C6 automatic 3 speed, 351C from a '72 Ford pick-up truck, 6 qt. chrome oil pan, extra capacity aluminum radiator, Offenhauser intake, Holley 650 4 barrel street avenger, Hurst V-matic 3 shifter, power brakes, power steering, heater and all fan speeds work, sequential lights work, Crager wheels, Headlight lids open, speedometer works, fuel gauge works, rear end gears I do believe are 311 (original rear end is included), dual exhaust H-pipe with throaty mufflers, new battery- July 2014, rebuilt starter- Aug. 2014, wipers work (high/low), window wash works, traction bars on rear end, Clarion M309 stereo, Doors do not droop when opened. 96 photos on photo paper are included (photos of front-end above and below taken for future restoration assembly), original factory color- yellow, 68,606 miles on speedo. no tears in interior, all ducting except defrost works, MSD ignition system, originally from Florida.
The not so good stuff-
Blower does not blow defrost, hesitation in carb. from a stop, right headlight lid will close 1/2 way (slight push to close, stays closed), front end wanders, trunk torsion bars are weak, front and rear window seals are cracking, headliner has black duck tape where I imagine mice found there way in (no urine or dead mouse smell), Body work is not as good as pictures tell (pock marks from poor sanding of bondo, pop riveted metal filler in interior hood lip, bubbles in paint) but no rust coming through, wiper scratches in windshield, dash pad droops slightly.
See photos for extra parts collected that are included- doors, 2 trunk lids, door glass, factory manual, rear end manual, new rocker panel strip, etc.
A test ride is ok to the serious to confirm all I have disclosed (I will take a photo of your license covering-up the license number).
! week to pay in full. Pick-up by customer. No storage terms longer than 2 weeks. Not responsible for catastrophic damage (tornado, building collapse, flat bed service, etc.)
