Description

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 4 GSR

ive decided to put my Evo 4 GSR up for sale,

Very clean example of an evo 4, get comments about it everywhere it goes.

Current mileage is 119,200 this is a mix of KM's and Miles as the car was imported into the country in 2008.

The engine was rebuilt by FQ Performance (Now Optimum Performance) along with the Gearbox and other bits at 115,943. I have all the invoices to prove the rebuild.

cylinder head stripped, cleaned, skimmed and rebuilt with new valves and stem seals, new lash adjusters and a set of MR camshafts

strip engine block hone and fit evo 9 pistons, evo 9 rods, and a evo 9 balanced crankshaft. All with new ACL race bearings, new oil pump, and new cambelt aswell, also a balance shaft removal kit was fitted.

gearbox and transfer box were stripped, cleaned and had some bearings replaced.

it has an evo 8 turbo and actuator, apexi induction kit, and a full 3" decat JASMA exhaust system, evo 7 intercooler, plasma boost gauge.

evo 6 injectors and evo 6 ecu have also been fitted, walbro 255 fuel pump, gizmo 3 port boost solenoid. ther car was trhen mapped to a safe 300bhp, this is at just 1.0BAR so the turbo could handle more if wanted.

P1 Ultralite flywheel and full exedy clutch kit have also been fitted. the front transfer box is from an RS model and has had the 4 weak bolts replaced with stronger items.

car has had a bit of work to the throttle body assembly, few seals replaced, and was gas tested and has no leaks atall.

the interior has been treated to an evo 5 interior, recaro seats in carbon effect. interior generally is in good condition, seats are a little frayed, but no rips/tears/holes anywhere.

I have have taken her to optimum performance (evo specialist) for various bits of work and have all the receipts for this, again the lads at optimum have praise for the condition of the car.

since I have owned her I have replaced the rear diff with an evo 8 unit, also had the AYC pump serviced. AYC pump works fine, no warning lights on the dash for it, lights come on then go out after 5 seconds which is exactly what it should do.

also ive had 4 brand new tyres put on her, very grippy. wheels are OZ racing and are in really good condition.

ive also had the geometry set up to factory specifications on the suspension.

A/C has been removed too.

ralliart car mats.

engine oil service only a few thousand ago using 5w40 fully synthetic oil.

no dump valve just pure wastegate chatter. :D :D

body work for the age is really good, no major dents, no major scrapes, and looks brilliant after a polish and wax. there are a few stonechips on the front as to be expected, and the right hand side of the rear bumper has dropped about 1 cm, which isn't much so ive left it.

the underneath on this car has to been seen to be believed, hardly any rust underneath and on the bodywork, the underneath of this car looks better than a lot of much more modern cars.

think that's everything, all in all it is fun, and very very quick. pulls really hard and smooth and just wants to go all the time. 0-60 is around 5 seconds. it will get to 150+mph pretty sharpish. quicker than pretty much all hot hatches and many bigger german cars too. she was built in 1996 and provides a raw driving experience and can be a bit of a culture shock if you've only driven modern cars for a while. its noisey, terrible on fuel, ,exhaust pops, bangs, spits massive flames on the over-run and is 1000 times more exciting than cars of today. if you don't mind the old school this is for you. saying that, it does have a lot primitive creature comforts like electric windows, electric mirrors, power steering, airbags, a cd player, ect.

Bad points. everycar has them, this is no exception as she is 18 years old.

because its dumping excess boost straight out of the wastegate, if you try to ride the clutch from really high rpm into a junction she will stall. this is purely because of the lack of a diverter valve/dump valve. plenty of info on the net about running a boosted car without a BOV. I have adapted my driving style to suit and therefore I haven't stalled since buying her. basically use proper engine braking instead of riding the clutch and she is fine. she will coast from low rpm's just not high rpm's. this is not really a fault just worth mentioning.

car needs a dab of accelerator when starting from cold, just keep a tiny bit of gas when you start her for 10 seconds and she will idle fine, or 2-3 sharp bursts of throttle will do it also. again its not bothered me enough to warrant inspection.

drivers window has decided to stop working, will be easy to fix, can only be 1 of a few things. all the others work fine though.

brakes work fine, stops well, but I personally would change them sometime next year. enough for a good 6 months

you will get no more than about 25MPG combined driving, if you worry about the cost of fuel, look elsewhere

rattle/vibration from the exhaust area when decelerating,

speedo can be tempermental, washer bottle a bit grimy, could do with a clean.

that's it folks, ive been as honest as I can, like to put everything on the advert so not to waste peoples time. shes had a lot of major work done, all the important bits like engine, gearbox, transferbox, and rear diff. the little things if a bother can be sorted pretty easily if wanted.
