Description

Professional conversion many years ago from a Targa to a Cabriolet with the roof and interior coming from a later Carrera and car painted at that time, blue roof in fair condition, paint is probably 10 to 15 years old with a few nicks etc, but still quite nice (pearl), body excellent, no rust, interior very good shape. On the road the car gets lots of attention and compliments. Imported from the USA in 1990.
Front shocks are Koni on a sport setting and rear are gas KYB’s, mildly lowered about 1.5 inches, premium Michelin Pilot sport tires new in summer, new rear 17x9 reproduction Fuch rims with 255/40 tires, front original Fuch 16x7 with 205/45 tires. These small tweeks added immensely to the handling and fun factor of driving the car. Visual has improved by the wider rims filling the wheel houses out it just sits and looks right. It will go into winter storage if it does not sell on this auction listing.
H4 headlight conversion.
The engine changed sometime in its history to a 2.7 which runs strong, does not smoke or burn oil, recent tune up, new plug wires, spark plugs and injectors cleaned. Mechanic recommended doing the chains next year. Original “cats” still on but have been hollowed out giving a little mellower sound. Heater works well and boxes in good condition. Muffler is original style and is in great condition. Original factory undercoating on chassis and floors in great shape also. I can take additional shots of anything.
I changed the original electrical panel to an updated blade fuse style purchased new in the summer from Pelican Porsche. The original fuse panels are notorious for fuses falling out while you are driving.
Interior is a later Carrera and carpet, door panels, seats (leather) are all in very good condition. Tail light panel also changed to later style. Power windows, manual mirrors, decent stereo, manual seats with power height adjustment (stopped working when I changed the fuse panel so obviously I did something wrong there). Battery replaced in the spring. USA imported car many years ago so speedo is in MPH.
I start it and warm it to operating temperature on a regular basis also driving it every few weeks. I have too many cars right now and selling off a few.
It’s not perfect but a fantastic driver in great shape and does not appear or have any record of been in an accident. Everything fits/lines up as a Porsche should. There may be a few items that require attention like it is missing the plastic cover for the top header but in the end it is a 40 year old car so you can expect some minor issues. If you want perfect look elsewhere but if you want a reliable, tight, straight attractive air cooled 911 at a reasonable buy in price this may be it. As a multiple Porsche owner I understand it has been modified from original but it has been done with Porsche parts and it is what it is, a driver not a garage queen.
Note I had a few issues with bid cancellations which made the last auction suspect, I understand as I would think the same way and I see it time and time again on this site. The withdrawn bids were from overseas bidders and were being changed for a few hundred dollars or the reason that I changed the auction description which I did NOT. A few members have contacted me prior to the closing asking what is wrong and why are bids being retracted which is what I mean. This car sold on Ebay in August but the buyer could not get the money together or out of his country, I worked with him for a month. So unfortunately I have to take the position that 0 rated buyers must contact me or I will cancel their bid. At that time the car had some tuning issues so I decided to get the work it needed finished. I know it is a common problem to many selling on Ebay but frustrating just the same.
I am happy to answer any questions, talk directly with anyone but please don't bid without understanding what you are bidding on.
