Description

For sale is a clean 1979 Triumph Spitfire convertible. It is in great running and driving condition and is ready to enjoy. The car is very original with 60,800 miles; it is driven every week and mileage will increase slightly. Some desirable aftermarket parts are included; a rare matching factory hardtop is sold with the car. Exterior is British Racing Green and is very presentable. There are a couple imperfections including a small ding on the passenger door, small dings near latch on passenger fender and one on the driver's quarter. There are no serious rust issues, some surface rust is visible underhood but nothing major. Trunk is very clean. Please inspect pictures. Panels were checked for filler using a magnet and there were no areas where it did not stick to underlying metal.
The 1500cc engine runs strong and sounds great. Transmission is a 4 speed without overdrive. Clutch is strong. Engine has electronic ignition, a weber carb, Pierce aluminum intake, with a header feeding a Monza exhaust which sounds awesome. All electronics work with exception of the turn signals, although a new relay is included. The turn signal switch is $65.00 new from Moss Motors if it needs replacing. The car drives straight, stops well, and feels solid. Michellin tires are in good condition. A brand new front pad and rotor kit is also included.
The interior is tan with a black carpet and is in great shape. New "aircraft style" seatbelts have been installed to replace the problematic inertia-style originals, which are included. Steering wheel has some wear. The convertible top is also tan with a tan boot cover; it is in good shape, there is a small (1 inch) narrow tear in one area. The factory BRG hardtop is hard to find and a great addition to the car, see pictures with hardtop installed. The hardtop has a scratch on top and the headliner is cream colored with some minor discoloration. The mounting hardware for the hardtop is new.
I selling this car for my friend due to hardship, must sell. Relisted with a significant price drop. The last auction had many views and followers, I encourage you to message me if you are interested in the car and we can have a conversation or you can speak with my friend. I am very familiar with this car, have inspected it and driven it. It is very fun to drive and ready to enjoy. It is currently registered and insured in Connecticut.
