Description

Reisted at a lower price. The Vincent is a rendition of the pre-WW2 Riley MPH and has been produced in very limited quantities in England for more than thirty years, either fully factory built or as a kit, and is still being manufactured to order. Support and advice is readily available from the manufacturer
My car is one is of only two in WA (I believe) and possibly in Australia. It was factory built in 1987 and I imported it from the UK in early 2011. I have deliberately made no attempt to return it to “concours” condition as I favour patina for old cars. It is powered by a modified Ford Kent (Cortina) single overhead cam engine of 1600cc capacity; the gearbox is also Ford. It is fully registered for normal road use in WA and had all the relevant ADR’s for cars built in 1987 incorporated as part of the initial registration process.
The front suspension uses parts from the Triumph Herald – giving a very tight turning circle – and the rear suspension is a non-independent, four-link, Panhard rod, coil spring over shocks layout. This configuration gives the car finger tip, highly sensitive steering and limpet-like roadholding; with substantial power coming in on the cam at 4,000 rpm it is a joy to drive. Think of it as a cross between a Lotus 7 and a Morgan.
Construction is glass fibre wings, aluminium bonnet and tub, all sitting on a steel chassis. Body condition is good although the doors (which I never use) are a somewhat crude fit – I get in by standing on the running board and easing into the cockpit as if getting into a kayak – and as I’m getting old and arthriticy this is becoming an increasingly difficult process and is the main reason for the car being for sale.
The car comes with a hood and side screens which I have never fitted and a dividable tonneau cover which I do use at times, and is garaged in the South West of WA.
