This is your opportunity to own probably one of the very best Corrado VR6’s left in the country, it’s been part of my Father’s classic car collection for the past 4 years, however he’s decided to sell it to make way for something else, in the time he’s taken ownership the car has barely been used and covered around 2000 miles (500 per year) which have been mainly to VW classic events.
The car has been through the hands of just 3 very careful and loving previous owners and was originally purchased from South Hereford VW Garages, it has remained around the Herefordshire/Shropshire/Gloucestershire region for it’s entire life and was featured with it’s original owner in a VW publication from 1994, see picture attached, in fact the same family owned it for the first 17 years.
The condition of the car is exceptional, the underside was waxoyled some years ago and the benefit of this is there to be seen, the stunning tornado red paint shines up as beautiful today as it did when new and looks to be the original paint when it left the factory, indeed my father had this car inspected by a car body technician before he bought it who confirmed in his opinion the paint was original, and it had never seen an accident, this opinion is also backed up by the car still sporting it’s original dealer number plates some 22 years later. The car has also been kept completely original with no after market modifications of any sort, and still boasts the original Speedline alloys which are unmarked with a new set of rear tyres fitted a few months ago. Also worth pointing out is that the active tailgate spoiler is perfectly functional which is a rarity indeed as many become inoperable long before the age of this car!
The interior is in immaculate order, the black cloth seats are lovely and firm and hug you nicely with no blemishes, everything is in order, the MFA computer operates without fault and the LCD display is still nice and clear and not pixelated like many you find. The beauty about this car is that everything works, apart from a niggle with the electric sunroof, any Corrado owner will know that the design of the internal sunroof mechanism is not great and is very prone to functional issues, the sunroof does open and tilt, however closing it is problematic, it really needs stripping down and the renewal of some internal parts to make it fully functional again, the sunroof was not an important factor for my father and hence he never used it and never felt the need to get it repaired.
The file of paperwork that accompanies the car is nothing short of astounding! I would suggest almost every single receipt is present totalling thousands of pounds, along with every MOT certificate, one receipt worthy of note here is for the overhaul of the cylinder head and the replacement of all timing chains, tensioners and a new clutch for £1946.72 on 18/4/2009 at 88,860 miles. The engine is in tip top order and pulls beautifully through the rev range and with that glorious VW V6 growl it can’t help but put a smile on your face, even now at 22 years old this car is an absolute pleasure to drive and engages you totally, these Corrados really were at least decade ahead of their time!
So all in all an extremely rare opportunity for some lucky person to acquire one the of the very best Corrado VR6s available in the country, it would take very little effort to turn this into a show car and it would really suit a Corrado enthusiast who will continue to give it the love and attention it deserves.
An appreciating classic which will only ever go up in value due to it’s history, mileage and genuinity. Whilst there maybe 1 or 2 lower mileage examples around I’d be very surprised if they had the extensive history evidence that shows they’ve been looked after as well as this example.
