INSIDE AND OUTSIDE PHOTOS WILL BE UPDATED NEXT WEEKEND.
1990 Volkswagen VW Golf MK1 Manual Clipper Convertible

Only selling as I have 3 other cars and time does not allow to drive the MK1 (Audi track car, Mercedes daily driver and BMW weekend car; true German car enthusiast).

I’ve owned the vehicle for around 5 years and have replaced numerous maintenance and cosmetic items in that time. It’s not easy to remember them all but I’ll try to list them below:

Outside / Inside:
• External roof material replaced with kit from Europe.
• OEM plastic roof clips and trim replaced at same time as roof.
• Rear window frame replaced with stainless item from Europe (shouldn’t rust out again).
• Used passenger seat in same OEM trim purchased to replace the driver’s seat, bottom cushion already replaced, top cushion will be supplied for new owner to replace.
• Head unit replaced with new JVC unit to link to iPhone (nothing too flashy and out of place, set up to glow green like the dash). I have the original Blaupunkt unit that will come with the car.
• Gear knob and gear gaiter replaced and a couple of interior trim items sourced and replaced, nothing is missing or broken.
• Front grille replaced with single lamps (original grille will be supplied to new owner)
• Locking fuel filler cap replaced

Engine / Gearbox:
• Drivers side engine mount replaced
• Timing belt replaced (Continental belt installed less than 12 months ago)
• Spark plugs, HT plug leads and distributer cap replaced
• New battery less than 12 months ago
• Fuel filter and Air Filter (K&N) replaced
• Fuel pressure accumulator (Bosch) replaced
• Oil Cooler housing and O-ring replaced
• Thermostat and housing replaced
• Radiator and radiator expansion bottle replaced
• New fuel / air mixture screw for inlet manifold installed
• Exhaust manifold gasket replaced and new copper nuts installed
• Gear box oil replaced
• All gear linkage bushes replaced
• OEM gear link arm replaced (fixed reverse gear lock-out tab)
• OEM rubber gear gaiter and plastic dust cap replaced (underneath car)

Suspension / Brakes:
• Front brake discs and pads replaced
• Braided brake lines installed front and rear
• Front suspension top mounts replaced
• Front and Rear coilover suspension from Europe installed (currently low but can be raised up)
• Front track rod ends replaced and wheel alignment done

Spare Parts:
• OEM Front Passenger Guard (Green)
• OEM Front Passenger Wheel Arch (Green)
• OEM Front Seat Back Cushion and Cover
• Blaupunkt Car Radio (OEM I think)
• Front CV boots
• Front Engine Mount and Gearbox Engine Mount
• Steering Column Poly Mount
• Rear Brake Shoes
• Oil Filter
• 5L Oil
• Aircon parts except for interior dials (I removed them from under the bonnet when I bought the car, previous owner was part way through retro fitting it)

Negative Items:
• Hose leaking for power hood; I operate it in manual mode but I’m sure with a new hose and hydraulic fluid it will work again.
• Front passenger wheel arch damaged and dented guard behind. Not that noticeable currently as I fixed it with a mending plate behind. Spare OEM Guard and OEM Wheel Arch will come with the car.
• Some areas of peeling paint on bumpers and areas of paint on car that have been polished beyond depth of top coat.
• Couple of spots of minor surface rust and minor crease in front panel. I’m not a panel beater but I don’t think anything will need to be replaced. Just surface rust removed and panel straightened
• Slight lifting of dash cover around air vents and lower plastic trim missing from driver’s side seat belt. Replacement ordered from Latvia and currently being shipped.

Albeit in better condition body wise some Clippers are currently advertised for 12,500 GBP on Autotrader.co.uk and 16,500 AUD on Gumtree.

QLD Club Rego is available as its over 30 years old.

Feel free to message if you have any questions.; viewing available 12th to 15th November.
