Volkswagen 1200 (Beetle) Deluxe (1965) 2D Sedan 4 SP Manual (1.2L - Carb)

1965 Volkswagen Type 1 Beetle. Sold on 23rd February 1966 - 9 days after decimal currency! Service book contains sticker with prices in Pounds shillings pence as well as Dollars and cents. Sold new in Adelaide. Service book fully completed. This is an original unrestored car. Interior is quite good. Roof lining is there but has tears in it. The floor inside has been sprayed with a thick protective coating. Left rear guard has a ding in it. The rear brake pipe was leaking when I got it. It had been leaking for sometime and the leak was in the cabin behind the drivers seat. It has rusted the floor in that section. The bottoms of both A pillars have rust too (see pictures). Under the battery is fine!The brakes have been overhauled and the main pipe to the rear replaced. Brakes are now great. Engine is sound and starts quickly with a couple of good pumps on the pedal - even after sitting in the shed for ages. Gearbox is good with 2nd gear synchro slow when its cold. Clutch bite is good but it can shudder on takeoff when cold (probably a solid-centre clutch). I have a blanking plate for the radio - I just haven't painted it to install it. Converted to 12 volt. Wipers don't work - probably burnt out. I have another wiper motor but haven't replaced it. The bonnet locks and the inside bonnet release works. Fix the 3 rust areas (and the wipers) and it's good to go back on the road. Questions?? Ted 0n 0438 032 600
