Description

Update: The high bidder supposedly didn't get permission from his wife So, here it is again with a buy it now.
We built this car in a few short weeks to participate in the NW Classic Rally. We started with a clean wagon that we found locally. It was a well optioned car with a roof rack, third row seat, cruise control, trailer hitch, and working overdrive. The front brakes had been done recently too. We cleaned it inside and out before reworking the suspension. Bilstein HD shocks went in all around and all the bushings were replaced up front. Thick iPd sway bars were installed too. The combination makes this thing corner very flat and we were able to keep up with much more expensive machinery in the twisties. New engine and tranny mounts were installed to keep the drivetrain in place. We swapped out the grill and headlights to the quad round setup and black grill used on earlier cars. It really makes the car stand out and gives it a vintage look. New mud flaps went on out back and a new turbo exhaust was installed underneath. New tires were mounted on the original rims. Inside we added a factory tach, R-Sport steering wheel, rubber mats, and factory auxiliary gauges (we didn't get them all hooked up yet). The odometer works great and we did install a new speedo cable just in case. We also swapped the door panels, map pockets, seats, and some other trim pieces out of a lower mileage car. Finally we added a custom shift knob that has a set screw so it won't slip off during shifting. The engine was running a little rough so we were worried that the wiring harness was bad. After checking everything, it turned out that the sections that deteriorate had already been replaced. After all this, we made the 5 hour drive to Portland, ran a two day rally on the roads near Mt. Hood, and made the journey back to Boise without incident. We didn't have any issues and the car performed wonderfully! We had a blast, but it's on to new projects so this one needs to go. The rally sticker is still on the passenger door and we mounted the rally badge on the grill. There are still a few things the car needs. It's running rich and could use a full tune up. We replaced many of the vacuum hoses, but there are probably a few leaks. It takes a few seconds to start and blows some smoke when you floor it. I checked the compression and it's even across all cylinders, so I'm thinking it could be a leaky injector or a sensor that needs replaced. There appears to be a transmission or overdrive leak. It could also use a new exhaust manifold gasket and down pipe. We just ran out of time to address all these issues before the rally, but I don't think it would take much to get it running better. This is a no reserve auction so it will go to the highest bidder. Buyer is responsible for shipping. Please feel free to contact me with any questions and be sure to view all the photos in the galley. Thanks!
