1968 AMC AMX

This auction is for an almost rust free 1968 AMX. The car was bought new in California and has been stored in doors for the last 20 years most recently in an aircraft hanger. The car has a 350 Chevy engine and transmission sitting in it, The 350th transmission mount was modified but the motor mounts were never completed.I was told the engine is good and it does spin free and has the camel humps heads. I was told it was rebuilt but I don’t know that for a fact.The floors are like new , There is some surface rust in the center of the trunk floor that wouldn’t need replacement just treating and por15.The Only rust that needs repair is behind the rear wheels near the bottom.There is no rust around the windows front or rear and the body is very straight. The dash is in good condition with only some cracks in the center section where the plaque is, easily recovered separately. The car was heavily under coated and has always been in California so underneath is in excellent condition.The car appears to have the original black paint on everything, but the front fenders. Work was done on the inside lip of the front fenders to allow wide tire like they did in the 1970s and it appears a glaze coat of filler was used because there is some cracking. I can’t feel any damage on the inside of either fender and both appear original to the car. The hood is nice the only dint is smaller than aseball size where the c pillar slant down on the passenger side.days after payment is received if the buyer needs time to pick it up. I will also help loaded the car for the buyers shipper. It’s a nice solid example in Black of a great fairly uncommon muscle car that would be a great project.
