The
Ramblin' Ratt
1962 Rambler Classic. 196 aluminum inline 6 cyl. T-35 pushbutton automatic( just rebuilt this spring). 60,000ish miles.
Old school hot rod, rat rod in todays terms. This car has the kind of patina that can only be produced by time. I have only had this car for about a year. The story I got when I bought it went like this.. previous owner got it 5 or 6 years ago. Shortly there after the trans went out. He put it in his barn till I got it. He did nothing to it. I would guess it was painted flat black and pin striped at least 10 years ago. I went over it mechanically, added the Mexican blanket to the seat, and thats it. Fun driver. I just have other projects that need done, so this one must find a new home. Looks cool and always gets comments, runs good.
The GOOD , The BAD , and The UGLY. The Good;
60000 miles and purrs like a porch cat.
Transmission completely rebuilt,including a new torque converter.
New U-joint.
New points
New thermostat, and antifreeze.
< 200 miles on lube,oil,filter.
New wiper blades.
New brakes,wheel cylinders, hardware.
Electric fuel pump.
New muffler and downpipe.
Converted to a GM 10si alternator.
Clock is right twice a day.
Tires have great tread, and wide white walls, but are older bias plys.
The Bad;
Fuel and temperature gauge are inoperative. Both just need new sending units.
Clock is only right twice a day.
Radio works, but has no antenna. Hole for antenna is there and clearly marked "hole" ;)[see pics]
Leaks water into the interior at the front and back window area. I suppose the windows would need resealed to fix this. A previous owner was a real problem solver and drilled holes in the backseat floor, so it leaks right back out. (Has no carpet.) Not an issue for me as it is normally stored inside.
Has had some patches in the front floor, inner fenderwells, and the front frame rails repaired. All were welded in and look good.
No spare. No jack.
The Ugly;
Well beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you don't like patina, flat black paint, and pinstripes, then this is not for you. The interior has no carpet ,but I sprayed bed liner on the floor. The seat upholstery is shot. The drivers seat back has an old homemade cover on it. I did take the seats out and scrub them. Clean inside!
In true rat rod fashion I added a lovely Mexican blanket for the front seat.It has door panels ,but no other side or kick panels. Body has various marks ,scratches, and spots of rust .
I have only put about a hundred miles on this. driven locally to shows ,etc. . It is 52 years old. I probably forgot some details so if there is anything important not mentioned here, ask. Do not assume, …you know how the saying goes!As is.
Seems to run good ,but ,.I CANNOT TELL YOU IT WILL MAKE A MANY MILE TRIP TO ANYWHERE. Lets face it , its got a lot of 50 year old parts on it, I can't foresee a problem but if you try to drive it a long way you better be prepared for the unknown. Napa doesn't stock much for 50 year old ramblers, but they can still get it, in about two weeks .
No guarantee, no refunds, no bull. Car and title stay in my possession till all funds clear. This is also for sale or trade and advertised locally , so I reserve the right to end the listing early. Buy it now or your best offer or bid.
Internationalbuyers must pay by pay pal, and pay all pay pal fees, pay shipping costand hire their own shiping company, pax taxes, pay anything else thatcomes up. I have sold and shipped international before.
SEE PICS, ALL 24 OF THEM. ALL WERE TAKEN THIS SEPTEMBER! EVEN THE ONE AT THE SHOW. Has been in storage since.
I have described this car to the best of my ability, I gave way more info than an ad should, but I wanted to be thorough.Feel free to arrange an inspection. Contact me through ebay with any questions or concerns and a phone number if you would like to talk. This car seems good mechanically and is ready to cruise. Yes it does have a clean Ohio title.If you like unusual and unique this is one for you. Thanks
