Description
A real nice modified sleeper.
Standard features include 10 airbagsall aluminium sub-frame - a very lightweight limo styled vehicle.
Only 7 of this type were imported in 2000 and 11 more in 2001. This car was born in August 2000 and is known as the D2 A8.
This is also a long wheelbase version, with four independantly adjustable Momo black leather seats.
What was changed
A Lysholm AX2300 supercharger was added in 2006 at 140,000km The 4.2 litre, 40 valve engine was the high compression (12:1) version and at 191,000km the engine expired.
It broke a rodno big bang or similarjust would not start one day while it was at the service shop awaiting a tune. Doh.
A brand new low compression engine was built and installed at a cost of around $20,000.
In 2014 a brand new water-air intercooler replaced the non-intercooled original intake manifold. The cost for that, including the supercharger was around $10,000.
The automatic oil filled suspension was upgraded to four heavy duty B6 Bilstein shock absorbers. You can see the yellow paint in the picture with the brand new tyres that were fitted about 1,000 km ago.
The car has custom extractors designed, built and installed by Westside Mufflerswith racing cats and the balance of the exhaust was completed by the great folks at Liverpool exhausts.
The car has been regularly service by Audi - the engine CPU was custom created at Silverwater Automotive who removed the old engine and installed the new one in 2011.
The car had a few runs at Eastern Creek Dragways, with a best time of around 14 seconds at 167kph.
Originally this model was built with 228 KW at the engine (which relates to about 150KW at the wheels [150KW AW]today is has 233KW AWaround 330KW at the engine.
BTW - the nose "baby-bump" serves two purposesthe new intake manifold was a bit too high and I could not shut the bonnet..and it also stops the engine overheating in summerwhen driving in bumper-bumper traffic.
On a run to ACT and back (I did this around 10 times a year from 2006 to 2011) and this car uses less than 10litres/100km
I recently purchased a 2008 Audi S8 V-10so this car needs to be sold.
This is NOT a concourse carhowever it is a very straight car and above averagewith a new stereo system with reversing camera, bluetooth and all the usual modern features. The reversing camera is integrated into the stereo and was installed after these pictures were taken.
Good luck with your biddingand feel free to ask for additional info
