Hello and welcome to the advert for my Audi A3 Quattro.
I've owned this car for a while and have improved it to a point where it has 458 bhp! The A3 was the Jabba sport demo car for some years.I bought it with a view to a do track days but unfortunately the engine wasn't quite what i was sold and lasted approx 300 miles before the turbo went. So i went to see Bill @ Bagder 5 for some advice.
The turbo and manifold was toast so he order from Owens Developments a Motorsport spec GT30 with v band housing and HTA billet wheels. Uprated bearing cages and what ever else i could think of! A custom tubular manifold was built top mount the Turbo and a new down pipe was fabricated along with the pipework for the Tial 48mm external wategate.
The engine was stripped down and new supertech valves and springs were installed. It was already a 1.9L engine conversion, faster revving than the stroker conversion, with uprated rods, pistons and bearings etc. The head was bolted back on with ARP head studs rather than bolts for better securing.
The car had already been converted to wide band. A new ECU was sourced and the engine was remapped @ 458 bhp. The comments back were that the Jabba Sprt intercooler wasn't large enough to keep the temps down on the rollers and a larger one was required for more power.I have bought the intercooler but not fitted it There was a problem with the Water Meth Injection system thats fitted. This was fixed and set to run @ 18 psi of boost. This was done at 69,000 miles. A new MOT (April) was also put on and it has now covered 72,950 miles as of today.
The drive trains been uprated to a 6 speed box, a BLUE Haldex motorsport controller, uprated clutch. This handles the power very. The Haldex controller turns this into a genuine 4wd car now.
Suspension is KW3's, great ride and fully adjustable.Forge adjustable rear arms. Brakes are Porsche turbo 6 pots with Massive floats disks and bells. The wheels are 18" team dynamics that fill the arches perfectly.
I have all the receipts for the work done. I am the owner and driver, its warmed up properly and cooled down properly. I've had plenty of fast cars and this is fast.Not for the feint hearted or inexperienced. Its lovely to drive " quietly" off boost and will do 340 miles to a tank of super unleaded, always run on it.
To improve on the power output, although its plenty enough if i'm honest,the larger intercooler needs fitting. larger (750cc) Injectors. A larger inlet manifold and a set of Bills cams will see this use all the turbos full potential and see around 550 BHP. Don'r believe the false claims of 500+ HP with seeing a dyno plot.Then you could fit GT35 and go to 600HP, the engines built for it!
There is a recurring fault with the ESR. every now and again the traction and ABS light comes on. May come on twice in a day, may come on once in 2 months. I've scanned the fault cdes and it says its the accelerometer. Hasn't bothered me as i use it with the traction off :) All the other systems work very well. The display has all the LCD parts working. The climate works great and its a great place to be. The factory recaros are comfier than the S3 seats and hold you better. And of course, not being an S3 means cheaper insurance and more of a Q car look ( if you paint the wheels silver and put the standard grill in)
I'm selling up a few of my toys because my current job takes me all over including foreign travel.i have quite a while left on this contract so i'd rather it sold and get used then go back in the garage for another year.
