Description
Here is my Audi A3 manual 2.0 tdi for sale it has been mechanically reliable since I've owned it but can be described as aesthetically damaged. 123k miles. MOT + tax til January. The engine code is BKD which is one of the few of this era that is proven to be robust. No warning lights are on when engine is running. Had a major service last year and a lot of work done. Cambelt was done at 80k so that is something to bear in mind. The gearbox and clutch are still solid despite the mileage. The tyres are all good and were replaced recently. It has some history and service history.
Now the bad points. A white van caused the worst of the damage on the drivers passenger side panel when it was parked. The scratches are quite significant but it is salvageable if the owner wished to invest in it. It has cracked the rear light slightly but no severe dents. Also, on the opposite side the panel there is dink and smaller less serious scratches where a week later my wife scraped a post when reversing. The front alloy are not in good condition. The interior isn't bad but it would benefit from a good valet. The drivers seat is a different colour to the others. I replaced it with a secondhand seat because the original was ripped. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a matching colour and Audi's asking price for a new one was simply outrageous. Mechanically the car is good and has never failed me but the inner tie-rod end on the drivers side is starting to creak and will need replacing before next MOT. This is the only MOT failure I can spot on a car, and although it sounds a worse problem than it really it, it is not an expensive fix. The rear window wiper has also stopped working. This is not an MOT failure but it will need a new motor because of the ingress of water causing rust. The is a common problem and in my opinion the design is poor for this quality of car. I have been as honest as I can about the car. If you can deal with its flaws it is still a good car that can be run cheaply which will fly through MOTs. It is also surprisingly quick for a diesel but the insurance group is only 11. I have a larger vehicle now that is more suited for a family and do not need this car therefore the effort to fix it is not worthwhile. The engine in this car alone is worth over 700 quid (check ebay), and compounding this to the fact that very little work is needed for the car to carry on legally driving on the roads in regards to the MOT, you can grab yourself a bargain today. Viewing and inspection is welcome, but remember with this low price you are not buying a show quality car.
