Description

This rare 1947 Bentley Mk VI Sports Saloon was among the very first produced by Rolls-Royce/Bentley following WWII. It is based on a 1938 design and built in 1946 because Rolls-Royce and Bentley were making Spitfires during the war years.
Navy blue and black exterior, straight 6 with original large factory sunroof this Mark VI runs smoothly, is mechanically sound with records and receipts since purchased by current owner in 2003. 104,000 mi. on original engine. Garage stored and maintained only by Bentley trained mechanics.
Imported to Canada from England, this Bentley Standard Sports Saloon features British right hand drive and stick shift 4 speed transmission.
Once advertised as "The Silent Sports Car", it starts readily at the touch of a push button and settles into a smooth, quiet idle. The transmission shifts easily and the brakes are good. Steering effort is light and the car handles well. This was the first Bentley designed to be driven by its owner, rather than a chauffeur.
The large sunroof allows the sun to highlight the beautiful burled wood dashboard. The instruments function as they should, all the lights work, including the driving lights and center-mounted headlight.
As well as the original English registration plates (Cheshire, UK) I have BC Collector plates on the car as it is all original (including RCA Victor radio). Recent work includes the front end (king pins, bushings), new brakes and engine mounts replaced.
Included with the car is the original tool kit, a shop service manual, and an owner's manual.
