Description
For sale is my 1980 E24 BMW 635CSi race car. The car is set up as a Targa rally carand/or club level race car. I bought the car in 2013 and have competed in historic (HSRCA) and modern (FOSC) regularity events at Sydney Motorsport Park (Eastern Creek) during this time winning a number of heats and finishing strongly overall at each event.
The car has been set up with a half roll cage, adjustable bilstein suspension, 16 x 7inch alloy rims (metric), 5 speed manual and a later model 7 series motor, Cobra race seats, race harnesses (normal road seat belts still in place), Momo steering wheel, fire extinguisher etc. The car is currently on historic club registration expiring on the 2nd of August 2015.
Lap times at Sydney Park with myself a very amatuer driver are around the 2 minute mark on the original Gardner Grand Prix circuit and 1min 10 sec's on the new Amaroo (South) circuit.
The vehicle is ideal for supersprints, lap dashes, hill climbs, Reguarity, targa rally events or any other form of club level motorport. The car would also be a good base for a Group Nd historic touring car (rumoured new class yet to be approved by CAMS).
The car has some minor rust near the sunroof patch and on the lower side of the drivers door. The exhaust manifold also needs some attention. The car has never had any reliability issues in an event or travellling to and from events. This is a very easy vehicle to drive on the limit and is a great entry level vehicle for the European car motorsport enthusiast. The external exhaust note is not loud or offensive but inside at high revs the engine note will definitately remind you of the sound of Jim Richards' old Group C and Group A JPS 635's.
Regrettable sale. However, I have decided to go open wheeler racing.
For more details contact Michael on 0459 844 010. Inspections welcome.
The vehicle will be listed elsewhere so the seller reserves the right to withdraw sale of the vehicle on ebay.
