I have owned this car since August 2012 and have covered 40,000 miles. My annual mileage has now reduced so I no longer need a diesel. The car has always been garaged and I have kept it well maintained. I have two keys, all the handbooks, a large folder of maintenance receipts and the V5 is in my name.

Service history:
There are 12 service stamps in the book. The pre-delivery inspection was carried out in April 2005. The mileages and dates for each service thereafter are:
16,797 miles - April 2006
24,272 miles - April 2007
29,568 miles - July 2007
37,071 miles - January 2009
42,474 miles - December 2009
50,333 miles - August 2010
60,048 miles - garage stamp obscures the date
68,738 miles - August 2011
75,220 miles - March 2012
88,943 miles - March 2013
102,172 miles - March 2014
116,427 miles - June 2015

Maintenance:
Swirl flaps removed and replaced with the correct blanking plates in August 2012 – costing £300.

Uprated BMW oil separator filter (called a Vortex filter) fitted August 2012 to prevent expensive premature turbo failure.

Main engine thermostat and the EGR thermostat both replaced in March 2013, at a cost of £195. These thermostats usually need replacing from approximately 75,000 miles as they stop working properly.

The original rear air suspension compressor suction pipe and filter was replaced in April 2013. The original BMW pipe perishes and then damages the air suspension compressor. This cost £120.

This model of 5 series cars were factory fitted with steel exhaust manifolds, which always eventually crack. In September 2013 I replaced the cracked steel exhaust manifold with an aftermarket cast iron manifold with the centre divider for the turbo as per the original design at a cost of £465.

New rear suspension lower rear joints fitted September 2012 - £225.

New front track road ends fitted April 2013 - £122.

Automatic gearbox oil and filter replaced in February 2014 - £200.

New front prop-shaft joint fitted June 2014 - £196.

Air conditioning serviced July 2014. No leaks found. Gases and lubricant replaced during the service.

Full four wheel laser alignment January 2015.

Genuine BMW rear brake pads and new wear sensor fitted February 2015.

New front discs (Ferrodo) fitted April 2015.

New front brake sensor fitted May 2015.

Optional Extras
Full black Dakota leather interior with the ultra-rare driver and front passenger black leather Comfort Seats. These seats are incredibly rare, especially in black leather. They were an £1800 option back when the car was new. The seats electrically adjust in over 20 different ways, including but not limited to four way lumbar adjustment, side bolster adjustment – even the top half of the seat back can be adjusted independently of the bottom half. Both driver and passenger seats have memory function.

A removable and lockable tow bar made by Westfalia. This fits neatly inside the spare wheel when not required. Fitting and removal takes just a couple of minutes. I have used it about a dozen times with my trailer for tip runs and larger eBay purchases. The self-levelling rear air suspension fitted to this car, combined with the powerful 3.0 litre six cylinder diesel engine makes towing easy.

Professional Widescreen Sat Nav. This was the best Sat Nav option available at the time, which works off a disc inserted into the dashboard DVD drive. I have upgraded the disc.

Factory sun protection tinted glazing to the rear windows. This compliments the paintwork very well and adds a lot of extra privacy and security when transporting items in the rear of the car.

Factory fitted hands free Bluetooth for mobile phones.

Cruise control.

Front and rear parking sensors. One of the front parking sensors has an intermittent fault.

Bodywork
I would describe the bodywork as good to very good for a ten year old car with its mileage. In addition to the age and mileage related stone chips to the front bumper and bonnet (made of aluminium so won’t rust), I think it’s worth mentioning the following:
There’s a small chip and dent on the front near side wing. It looks like it’s been caught by the corner of another car’s door. I’ve included a photo which makes it look worse than it is. The front wings are made of aluminium so they won’t rust.

There are about three faint vertical scratches on the driver’s door.

Small pieces of paint are missing from two of the rear parking sensors.

Some of the black coating has come off the underside of both of the wing mirror brackets. The patch in question is a bit larger than a 50p piece. A friend’s 2005 5 series saloon has done the same.

Tyres
The car is fitted with four matching Michelin Primacy HP tyres. These are proper tyres – not the awful run flat tyres which are expensive, ruin the car’s ride and often can’t be repaired in the event of a puncture – meaning a new tyre has to be purchased. There is between 4mm and 5mm of tread on the front tyres and 3mm on the rears. The spare is a full size wheel, fitted with an unused Continental tyre.

The alloy wheels are in good condition for their age. I have always used Michelin Alpin winter tyres fitted to a different set of alloy wheels during the late autumn and winter months. The ‘summer’ alloy wheels and tyres have been dry stored whilst off the car.

Interior
The Dakota black leather and contrasting silver trim interior is in very nice condition for the age and mileage. In my opinion, the black and silver is the best combination for a 5 series. The super rare black leather Comfort Seats are amazing.

The floor carpets and the boot carpet are in superb condition. The floor carpets have always been protected during my ownership with genuine BMW rubber mats. I have always protected the boot carpet with a thick rubber boot protector mat. The BMW floor mats and the rubber boot mat will be included with the car. Even the original first aid kit and hazard warning triangle are present in the car.

Minor issues to be aware of
Although the central locking works fine, it does not work remotely from either key.
The phone Bluetooth has stopped working. I have bought a second Bluetooth module but this needs to be coded to the car. It will be supplied with the car.

I am a private seller so no warranty is offered or implied. I can’t accept a part exchange.
Cash, cheque or bank transfer is fine. Funds must be cleared in my account before the car can be taken.
The car is located for viewing near Poulton-le-Fylde (FY6 postcode area) in Lancashire. Test drives are welcome. You will need to bring your driving licence so I can insure you to drive the car.
