BRIEF HISTORY
I BEGAN BUILDING THIS CAR AFTER I SOLD MY E92 M3 IN SEARCH OF SOMETHING UNIQUE, SMALL LIGHTWEIGHT, NIMBLE WHILE AVOIDING BOLTED ON FENDERS AND OVER THE TOP MODS. I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM SOUTHERN CA APPROX. 2 YEARS AGO. CAR WAS MOSTLY STOCK AND UNMOLESTED AND WELL MAINTAINED. AFTER BRINGING THE CAR HOME I BEGAN TO TEAR DOWN THE MOTOR WHERE I SOURCED A S54 FROM A WRECKED E46 M3 (UNKNOWN MILES). I ALONG WITH VALLEY MOTORWERKS IN SACRAMENTO CA & RYAN G MOTORWERKS AUBURN CA STRIPPED DOWN THE BLOCK WHERE WE HEAT TANKED A LARGE AMOUNT OF PARTS TO ENSURE EVERYTHING INTERNALLY WAS CLEAN AND WOULD HAVE NO ISSUES ONCE REASSEMBLED. WHILE THE BLOCK WAS STRIPPED DOWN WE SWAPPED OUT THE OEM ROD BEARINGS FOR THE BEST WPC TREATED. TO ENSURE THE MOTOR WOULD BE BULLET PROOF THE VANOS WAS REBUILT USING THE UPGRADED OIL PUMP DISK AS WELL AS ALL NEW PARTS. A SET OF FABSPEED HEADERS WERE PURCHASED THEN HAD THE EXPENSIVE JET COAT APPLIED. WHILE PREPPING THE BLOCK TO BE MATED WITH THE E36 CHASSIS I PURCHASED A ENGINE AND BODY HARNESS AND SENT IT TO RANDY @ EPIC MOTORSPORT TO HAVE IT SPLICED WITH THE E36 M3 CHASSIS. ALSO USING A OEM DME HAD IT TUNED FOR APLHA-N AND ADDED THEIR RACE TUNE. BUILT INTO THE DME IS 3 HRS OF LIVE TUNING THAT CAN BE TAKEN TO ANY SHOP WHO IS FAMILIAR WITH LIVE TUNING. OBVIOUSLY NEW OWNER WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THEIR DYNO SHOP BUT THE LIVE TUNING FROM EPIC HAS ALREADY BEEN PAID FOR IN FULL. TO ENSURE CAR WAS ABLE TO KEEP UP WITH FUEL ISSUES A WALBRO 255 FEUL PUMP W/ TECHNICA SLEEVE WAS PUT IN ALONG WITH A CUSTOM HIGH PRESSURE S54 FEUL FILTER. AFTER MATING THE BLOCK AND CHASSIS A CUSTOM CSL RACE INTAKE WITH LONGER RUNNERS WAS ADDED. ITS BEEN PROVEN THAT THE LONGER RUNNERS WILL PRODUCE MORE POWER. TO ENSURE THE EXHAUST DID NOT HAVE A NEGATIVE IMPACT ON THE S54 AND VANOS I CHOSE A CPI SEC 1 WITH RESONATORS TO KEEP THE RASP UNDER CONTROL. THE SEC 1 BOLTED UP WITH NO MODIFICATION NEEDED. A CUSTOM SECTION WAS MADE USING STEEL PIPING WITH 2 STAINLESS AERO RESONATORS. DUAL PIPING WAS USED ALL THE WAY BACK WHERE THEY MEET IN AT CUSTOM REAR STAINLESS MUFFLER. NON FLASHY DUAL STEEL TIPS WERE MADE WITH A REMOVABLE TURN AWAY TIP IN ORDER TO PASS DB LEVELS REQUIRED AT SOME TRACKS. I WAS ORIG PLANNING ON USING THIS AS A TRACK DAY TOY WHERE LAGUNA SECA REQUIRES 90 DB OR LESS. ALL LTW PARTS ON THE CAR ARE OEM NOT REPLICA PARTS THAT I PERSONALLY SOURCED OVER 2 YEARS AND WERE ALL BRAND NEW IN THEIR ORIG PACKAGING. THE 4PT CAGE WAS PROFESSIONALLY DONE AT A SHOP INSIDE SANOMA RACEWAY CA. AFTER REMOVING THE REAR SEAT I REMOVED THE SUNROOF TO ALLEVIATE THE 60LBS THAT SITS AT THE VERY TOP OF THE CAR AND ADDS TO THE BODY ROLL WHEN CORNERING. THE SUNROOF WAS REPLACED WITH A CF INSERT. THE HEADLINER WAS REMOVED AS IT BEGAN TO SAG AND STILL HAD THE CUTOUT FOR THE SUNROOF. FOR A CLEAN LOOK ALL WIRES WERE TUCKED (NOT CUT). ALL BODY WORK AND PAINT INCLUDING THE CAGE WERE DONE @ ELITE AUTOBODY IN SACRAMENTO CA. THE REST OF THE PARTS ARE SELF EXPLANATORY BUT FEEL FREE TO ASK IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. THE BODY DOESN’T HAVE A SINGLE DENT AND ONLY FLAW IS IN THE DRIVERS DOOR WHERE THERE IS A LITTLE NICK IN THE PAINT AS WELL AS THE TRUNK UNDER WHERE THE SPOILER SITS BUT THESE CAN NOT BE SEEN WHEN THE TRUNK IS CLOSED. OVER ALL EXTERIOR IS 9.5 OUT OF 10. THE PASSNGR DOOR CARD HAS A SMALL CRACK LEFT PANNELS HAS SOME MARKS IN THE LEATHER AND THE REST OF THE INTERIOR IS IN GREAT SHAPE WITH NORMAL WEAR WITH NO STAINS, RIPS OR WHOLES. CAR HAS NO AC AS I WAS TRYING TO KEEP THE WEIGHT DOWN BUT CAN BE ADDED LIKE ANY OTHER S54. CAR HAS ABS BUT NO TRACTION CONTROL FOR OBVIOUS REASONS. CAR IS SITTING ON STOCK WHEELS AS I NEVER DECIDED ON WHAT ROUTE I WANTED TO GO. CAR IS CURRENTLY REGISTERED FOR CA BUT SMOG WILL BE UP TO THE NEW OWNER AND I WILL NOT ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY AS FAR AS THAT’S CONCERNED. I HAVE ADDED AS MUCH AS I CAN REMEMBER OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD BUT IM SURE IM LEAVING OUT SOMETHING WITH ALL THAT HAS BEEN DONE OVER THE 2 YRS.
ALSO NOTED THAT GAUGE CLUSTER HAD TO BE REPLACED AS ONE OF THE GAUGES WAS NOT WORKING. USED GAUGE CLUSTER READS 195K ALSO CAR IS LISTED LOCAL TO RESEARVE RIGHT TO END AUCTION AT ANYTIME.
