Description
How many times have you heard the phrase, “I’m selling a car
for a friend”? Well, I am. This car belongs to a fellow co-workers significant
other. She has had the car for 2.5 years and has only put 6000 miles on it. She
is in her mid sixties and always garages the car; pretty much just cruises to Amelia Island
or their country club with the top down kind of thing.
I have known the car since she bought it. I have a lift in my garage and went over the car when it was purchased (I currently have a few antique cars) and I cannot find evidence of damage or any paint work on any panels as all have their original BMW VIN stickers (see pics). The front bumper cover I believe has been painted before she bought the car, but it was a good quality job. I do know she replaced the lower (black portion) valance on it and maybe a fog light. The clean Car-fax bears out no issues as well.
The color is Alpine white on Natural leather and still has that leather smell; obviously never a smoker’s car. Interior is nicely aged with no burns and only a wear spot on the driver’s seat bolster, (see pic). There are some prior owner stains on the carpet that I believe will come out with a full detail. I know she did find one of the last sets of OEM floor mats for this color interior. Paint is very, very shiny with no door dings but some small occasional bruises and small penny sized depressions here and there due to normal wear and tear on a 16 year old car. White is a very hard color to show all imperfections and I am trying to be upfront. All systems operate as they should with the exception of an airbag light for the passenger, which I was told is a sensor. Full set of 2 year old correct, matching Goodyear Eagles all around. Right rear rim does have some mild rash (see pic), but nothing overly serious. Top will need some attention to the left side of window (see pic) and there are two very small punctures on the drivers side, probably from the top frame over the years, light clouding of the rear window. If you are looking for a very nice condition, very original, well maintained lower mileage M3 convertible, you will be hard pressed to find one nicer than this vehicle. I’d buy it, but the wife would growl still louder…..B-)
Of course it runs and operates as a 1998 M3 should. The car was checked out by our local shop that specializes in German cars upon purchase as well. There is nothing obvious that it needs as I have owned several BMWs ranging from a Z3, various sedans and an X3 even though I am a 911 owner. The drivers’ seat adjustment for the lower portion that controls height fore and aft is not working via the gear and the part is NLA from Germany, as the owner checked on this upon purchase. You can adjust it manually to suit your driving position completely. It does have a new radio, very new power top motor ……..she has most receipts for work performed in her ownership.
Please ask all questions or to arrange for a viewing/test drive/inspection. I do still work, so there could be a lag but only for a few hours. Owner's direct email is [email protected] . The car is sold as-is, where-is. Owner is open to shipping at buyers’ expense and arrangement of details, once payment is received and via wire transfer, cash or cleared certified funds in the continental USA; no other terms considered. Car is available for sale locally and may sell prior to end of auction as a result, but that is not the intent here. No zero bidders or bidders with less than perfect feedback, or your bids will be removed. You are bidding to buy. More pictures available upon request.
