Description
I have owned “Thelma” since 1996. She has been a great Sunday driver for the last 22 years!
During this time I have updated the leather seats, carpet and interior side panels as can be seen in the photos. She has the same “old lady” cancer bumps she has had since I purchased her 22 years ago. No major rust anyplace on “Thelma”. Just look at the under door picture! I have only driven her about 3,000 miles over the last 22 years. Most recent mechanical updates include the bushings on the rear sway bar, removal and adding an interior coating of the fuel tank to clean and seal it. Also had the 4 barrel carburetor rebuilt. New tires and shocks all around.
She is not a perfect car, she could use a fresh coat of paint and have her old lady bumps removed. She has a small dent on her passenger rear quarter panel from the prior owner having a box fall on her from a shelf. I never had this fixed because as stated, she is a driver more then a concourse show vehicle. She is a 55 year old vehicle, however she has been a fun toy for our family for years!
She has a 401 cubic inch engine and is an original Southern California car. I have the original owners manual! She was purchased in San Diego by her first owners who lived in Rancho Santa Fe. I also have a reproduction of the original garage shop manual, should you want to trouble shoot something yourself or even give to your mechanic when she needs work completed. She has many power options for her day! Power drivers seat, power windows including vents, power brakes, power steering! She has the rare split front seat option with center console. I bet the owners from a Rancho Santa Fe had her loaded up when they ordered “Thelma”. She even came with a “micro eye”, the early high beam low beam, auto on off headlight option!
Note the odometer states 79,433. When I purchased her with just over 76k, I assumed she had been around once, however when I had the mufflers replaced years ago and she was up on a lift, the mechanic stated she looked so clean from her undercarriage, he thought it might be original miles, however I have no way to document since I purchased her when she was 33 years old. She has always been babied and in her comfortable clean garage for the last 22 years I have owned "Thelma".
I might consider a trade as well for a clean strong “daily driver” Bronco of any year. Need a vehicle my kids can drive to school
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like more photos or video. If your in Southern California I would be happy to have you visit with her face to face.
