Description
1987 BUICK REGAL GRAND
NATIONAL
HISTORY: VIN 1G4GJ1174HP442825
I am selling a TRUE 1987 Buick Grand National. This Grand National is in very good condition in all respects, exterior, interior, and drive train. It has had two owners: one from 1987 to 1996 and the second from 1996 to 2014. I purchased the car last year after the second owner had it in storage for 5 years and was ready to part with it. With a little prepping and cleaning, the car started and was driven to my house 90 miles away. I have spent countless hours and dollars cleaning, buffing, detailing, replacing various parts and tuning the car.
DRIVE TRAIN: This Grand National has 109,000 miles on the odometer, which are actual. The engine and transmission were rebuilt at approximately 75,000 miles. At that time the stock Turbo Charger was upgraded from a 650 CFM to an 850 CFM unit. The Transmission was rebuilt with a heavy duty torque converter to handle the power. This Grand National is cold blooded, but once it is warmed up it performs perfectly.
INTERIOR: The interior is totally Original. It has the digital dash and all lights work…including the TURBO and BOOST lights. ALL of the equipment on the car functions properly including the power windows, power locks, lights, wipers, and heater. I believe the air conditioner needs a recharge or some type of attention as the compressor spins but does not engage. There are NO FAULT OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS LIT on the instrument panelALL is good!! There is a four inch split in one of the driver’s seat seams but it does not look to bad as you can see from the pictures. Some of the grey areas of the seating material has yellowed from age…this does not show up real good in the pictures or in person. The carpet is original and in good condition. Bar soap was kept inside the car during storage to keep mice out and there is a strong Irish Spring smell inside. Overall, the interior is in very good condition.
EXTERIOR: This GN has had no accidents and retains all of its original sheet metal. The body has had one repaint at some time that is holding up very well. The lower, backside, inside corners of the doors have had some kind of preventative rust treatment/repair but look fine. There is a small, approx 2 inch long ding, on the right rear quarter…see picture. It shows up when you get it at the right angle in just the right light. There are a couple small cracks in the rear bumper fillers…no holes. All of the glass is perfect. The original wheels are in very good shape and look great. As intended by Buick for NASCAR, this Grand National has a very menacing appearance.
NADA VALUE: Classic and Collectible NADA Value guide used by appraisers, values this 1987 Grand National at: LOW $12,950 AVERAGE $26,800 HIGH $44,400
I need space and need to move this car so I have it priced closer to the LOW value than the AVARAGE value. The 1987 Buick Grand National is shooting upward in value and fast becoming a top collector car of auto enthusiasts.
