Description
This is a rare opportunity.
The Buick Master series were some of the better vehicles available in the 1920's, and this is good for their owners today. I have a restored car similar to this one, and has proven completely reliable in service, as well as fast enough to be at least relatively useable in everyday traffic. There were very few of these vehicles imported into this country, as they were fearsomely expensive when new.
These cars had a 128 inch wheelbase, making them large by anyones standards. This is a right hand drive model that was fully imported from the US with a Fisher body.
What is for sale here is the bones of a 25-49 7 passenger tourer. This is one of the rarer versions of a rare series. Usually, when you go for one of these 'restoration projects' you get the usual pile of bits that everyone else has, and not enough to make a car. This is slightly different.
There still isn't enough to make a car, but the bits that are missing are some that would normally be there, and much of what is there is very difficult to find.. Notably, the rear axle is missing. The front axle is there, the engine and transmission, the chassis, the cowl, and many other common bits. But added to this are the tub- in excellent condition- the doors, the steering wheel, the spare wheel carrier, the original seat bases. Most of the lower timber frame is fully rebuilt and present. The chassis is restored, straight and has been powder coated black. The springs have been reset and also powder coated (on the outsides only), both front and back. The pins have all been rebushed. The front axle has also been powder coated and has had the king pins rebuilt.
The engine and transmission are both present, and the engine is free, has decent plugs (looks like it was running OK) but is an unknown quantity in terms of condition, as is the gearbox. A spare gearbox is included.
The tub is a lovely surprise. Usually these are destroyed: I know the one I rebuilt for the car I drive was in a terrible state. Had I had this one at the time I would have used it without hesitation as there is no serious rust and it is very straight. There are also four doors in good order.
Many of the small items usually needed are not present: there are no lights, no radiator, no gauges, no parts for the roof. What is there though is all in great order, and the start of a wonderful project.
The pictures give a good idea of what is here and the condition of it all. the reason for the sale is that we are moving. I do have a lot of the smaller parts that are needed left over from the restoration of my completed car, but these are all packed away and inaccessible. They will be for sale in a few months once the unpacking process is completed.
Please ring if you need any further information. 0412 119971.
Collection is the only option, and it needs to be picked up from Cranbourne, south east of Melbourne. Due to the size and number of parts, I am not able to assist with shipping or loading to a courier: you will need to collect it or have it collected.
