INCREDIBLY PRESERVED TURBO-T, 22K ACTUALMILES, LC2 EQUIPPED, FAST AND RARE!!
Ifyou're a car guy, I don't care what you drive, you know better than to messwith the big, bad, blown Buicks. Right out of the box, these cars were potentenough to give contemporary Corvettes a good run for their money, and eventoday, smart car guys know that these cars can pack a serious wallop. Thisextremely clean code J47 coupe 1987 T-Type is NOT a more common Grand National,but rather a Regal Turbo-T which is a far more subtle and rare, and therefore amore fearsome and unique beast.
Man,this thing looks awesome in silver, doesn't it? The icy cold paint and liberaluse of chrome work extremely well on this low-mileage (21,617 actual!) Buick.We almost prefer this look to the all-black finish the Grand Nationals usuallysport, and it's considerably less common. Nicely preserved, it's a sure betthat this car was never used for the daily grind, and there are few signs ofuse anywhere on the car. The dome on the hood was functional, helping to clearthe intake duct that feeds the engine, but otherwise it's just a padded roofaway from being a clone of grandma's luxury barge, making it a brilliantsleeper. The chrome that remains is in excellent condition, reminding you thatthis is still a luxury car on the inside. That little "T" (packagecode Y56) badge on the front fenders is a real indication that this car issomething special, but by the time you notice it, it's probably already toolate. Add in the front and rear aluminum bumper brackets (codes VD6 & VD7),and you'll know you've just been passed by a rare bird.
Inside,you won't forget that you're driving a Buick, as every luxury and convenienceitem was standard equipment. The gray fabric upholstery is grippy enough forspirited driving and has held up well over the years. Blue-gray carpets addsome welcome contrast, and they're in good shape with only minor signs of use.The standard Regal's instrument panel left a lot to be desired in a performancecar, so Buick engineers stuffed a tiny bar-graph style tachometer in thecorner, and the owner has wisely added Auto Meter boost and oil pressure gaugesunder the dash, just next to the special controller for the ECU. The original1987 Delco AM/FM/cassette stereo remains in the dash, and it still carries allthe luxury features you'd expect, including power windows and locks, A/C,cruise control, a tilt steering column, and a center console. The trunk looksalmost completely unused, with original mats and a space-saver spare that'snever been down.
Whilethe stock turbo Buicks were potent, this one is downright threatening. Thebeefy 3.8 liter V6 has been augmented by a custom computer program, ram airintake, and alcohol injection, which makes this car explosive at any speed, inany gear. On the other hand, the mods are pretty easy to reverse (why would youwant to, though?) so if you want bone stock, it's easy and the original partscome with the car. The quick-shifting 2004R 4-speed automatic is a greatpartner, allowing you to keep both hands on the wheel while your foot is flaton the floor and with 3.42 gears out back, the V6 is always on its toes. Theexhaust has that familiar Buick Turbo sound and the 16-inch 1989 Turbo Trans Amwheels look exactly right, although they kind of give away the car's secret.They've been fitted with 245/50/16 radials all around, but you'll note that therears are drag radials, so you know this car means business.
