Description
1965 Buick Riviera with 71,589 original miles, I’m the 3rd
owner (I bought it in 1996) and I know the history/ownership of the car from
day 1. Garage kept and located in the
Cincinnati area its entire life. It would
be an excellent car for someone to just tinker with and have a nice looking and
driving classic. Or it is a solid candidate
for a full restoration, to bring to shows and such. It did have a “so-so” repaint sometime in the
1980’s and I don’t believe it is the original Buick 1965 Flame Red code “R”
paint. Close, but the original looks to
have been a shade darker, judging by the parts that were not repainted under
the hood and such. The “Flame Red” paint
code was a rare color only found on 3% of the Riviera’s produced in 1965. The frame is rust free and the trunk panel is
nice and solid. About the only rust on
the car of any concern would be the pipes as the come out of the muffler. The chrome is all in excellent condition,
although 2 trim pieces need to be put back on properly. As you can see in the pictures the driver’s
side door bumper trim and the piece above the rocker panel on the passenger
side need to be correctly reattached. Also you can see in one of the pictures, I’m
holding a Riviera emblem. I purchased
that, but never reattached it to the body, as it was missing when I bought the
car on the driver’s side. The black
Vinyl interior is in great condition with no tears or rips in any of the
seats. About the only thing noticeable
on any of the seats is on the upper outer edge of the driver’s side, which just
has a little wear from getting in and out.
The front dashboard does not have any cracks and the rear package tray
is solid. The 445 Wildcat runs nice and
smooth and the 400 Super Turbine shifts just fine. It does have a newer water pump, fuel pump,
fuel filter, some hoses, master cylinder, booster, and belts. The brakes will need a good once over because
one (or more) of the wheels are not moving freely, something is sticking. It does have factory A/C, however it is not
working. Also the headlight motor is not
attached, as it also does not work, but I do have it. It truly is a 50 year old un-restored and un-molested time capsule of a car. I have all service records from when I owned the car as well as the owners manual with the original protect-o- plates. Please
send me any questions that you may have about it, I would like to see the car
move on to a good home.
