Description
Up for auction is my 1957 Buick Roadmaster 75 coupe project. I acquired this car over the Winter time with the full intention of making it a 400 point restoration. Since I do that already for a living, my attention always goes to client cars, and not my own. So I've made the decision to sell it with the hope that someone will do what I had wanted to do. There is a 57 Super parts car available at additional cost of $1000. I think it would be wise to take this car as well. It mas most of the small parts you need to put this one together.
In addition to the photos, I have published a YouTube video that is a bit more comprehensive on the scope of the car. Copy the link into your browser and check it out:
rust free! The car was a restoration project that was abandoned for unknown reasons after it was painted. The paint is nice, however it was done 10 years ago, and the car has been moved around and gotten knocked around. As a result, there are some chips around various areas. I highlight some of those areas in the video. I suppose if you could overlook the chips, then the car could be assembled without doing any additional work.
Chrome/Brightwork:
90% of the chrome on the car is redone already. This puts you light years
Interior:
The seat frames and all door panels are with the car. Everything will have to be redone. The chrome on the dash is in good shape and shouldn't require rechroming. Headliner bows and chrome strips are with the car.
Engine and Transmission:
The is NO engine or transmission. Unfortunately, they didn't come with the car when I bought it. This may present an opportunity to convert the car to a more modern drivetrain since you basically have a clean slate to work with. With Buicks of this vintage and their torque tube design, with no transmission installed, the rear end basically floats in place. This causes the rear wheels to be off center in the photos. The car will roll just fine, though.
Wheels and Tires:
Wheels are the correct 57 Buick wheels. I only have the two hubcaps with it, but the Super parts car has a couple good ones. Tires are just rollers.
Weatherstripping:
Assume that all rubber parts need to be purchased and installed.
Undercarriage:
It appears that the undercarriage has been painted black when they painted the car. It is dirty but I think it would clean up and look nice if it was hosed off.
Glass:
I do not have front windshield or door glass for it. I will include the rear windshield from the 57 Super parts car if you elect not to take that car with you. There are quarter windows included. Those window frames have been rechromed and windows installed into the frames.
Please take the time to watch the video! It is very detailed in what is included with the sale.
I will ship worldwide, and will do what I can to help with getting the car(s) loaded for transport. Please let me know if you have any questions. The reserve is set for what I have into the car, and I think it is reasonable for a car of this caliber.
If you want to pay with check, I will need to make sure it clears before you take possession of the car. I will require a $500 deposit after auction end if you're paying any way except escrow.com.
Good luck with bidding!
